Rita vs DC- Media coverage this weekend
Protests will get pushed out of the headlines.
Or no mention at all?

1. Given the media's love for hurricanes and their inense dislike
Edited on Tue Sep-20-05 02:30 PM by MidnightWind
of having to report any news negative to Chimpy, I'd say the odds are very, very good that there will be scant mention of the protests. I hope that I'm dead wrong about this but it's a really big concern of mine. I know how in past protests they have vastly underestimated the size of the crowds at these events and my guess is that they'll continue to do the same this time around. :barf:

2. I think it is important
that we have independent videographers there. If nothing else, we can have videos up on websites that are downloadable so that we can pass around the information on DVDs if we have to. The word of what is happening will get out.

3. You Got IT! MSM Has Never Been Our Friend. We ARE THE MEDIA NOW!
I will definitely be shooting video, pics and blogging on the event.

5. I am optimistic
(I have to be or I will kill myself :P )

I am hoping that since the shrub's approval ratings are so low, and the media seems to be more willing to tell the truth about his incompetence and the US public's growing dislike of him, that they will cover it more than they have in the past.

I am not fooling myself into thinking that the media have suddenly gained ethics or anything, but as more and more americans wake up, the media will too even if it's just for the ratings

6. You are probably right
We need to push this case ourselves, and that means collect pictures and stories from this demo and front them.

Now, I can't go (I live in Norway) but I can put out pictures and text on this web:
http://www.iterapi.com

It has already most of the pictures from March, and some Cindy vigil pictures from this summer.
If people took some time to take good pictures and interview people for inside coverage, we could collect it there after it was posted at the DU.

I guess most liberal websites/news outlets will cover this anyway, so at least most liberals will know what's happening.

I look forward to see what will happen at these demonstrations, and want to keep an eye on the people participating, as lack of MSM-coverage will increase the risk for government transgression.
This is very important, and if necessary we may tip off the media over in Europe to get attention. They will probably also follow this event - especially the Guardian - but if you have a link ready with a lot of copyright free photos to use, and a lot of stories to tell, the story might grow bigger.

A DU/Washington 24th Public Relations campaign?
