Haven't had access to any cable news nets for a couple of months. I'll catch CBS or ABC news from time to time, but get almost all of my news from the net. I like that and I don't have to actually see any of those failed actors pretending to be journalists. They even have almost comical "stage names" (WILLOW BEY = Will Obey???!!!). "Hi Willow, I'm Wolf..." Jeeeze.

cable news isn't news at all. It's ENTERTAINMENT. They can't be taken seriously.

I ended my self imposed exile from cable news 3 days ago. I'm re-self imposing exile again. I thought it was safe to go back in the water, but I was wrong. I can't take the little sound bites they try to pass off as news.

3. Why?

Because CNN has "jumped the shark". It is no longer a news organisation of any real note. Just, sadly, an organisation past its prime. One who has sold its soul to The Demons of Infotainment.

Quite sad really, although I assure you that more pressing issues, such as eating and keeping the lights on in my apartment take up most of my time lately. The causes of which CNN doesn't seem to report much about, either.

In BNW, happiness derives from consuming mass-produced goods, sports such as Obstacle Golf and Centrifugual Bumble-puppy, promiscuous sex, "the feelies", and most famously of all, a supposedly perfect pleasure-drug, soma.

As perfect pleasure-drugs go, soma underwhelms. It's not really a utopian wonderdrug at all. It does make you high. Yet it's more akin to a hangoverless tranquilliser or an opiate--or a psychic anaesthetising SSRI like Prozac--than a truly life-transforming elixir. . . . soma is a very one-dimensional euphoriant.
