After Levees Failed, * Had “A Sense of Relaxation”

After Levees Failed, Bush Had “A Sense of Relaxation”

President Bush, after being asked whether he was ‘misinformed’ by his advisors before he said that no one anticipated the breach of the levees:

What I was referring to is this: When that storm came by, a lot of people said we dodged a bullet. When that storm came through at first, people said, Whew. There was a sense of relaxation. And that’s what I was referring to.

And I myself thought we had dodged a bullet. You know why? Because I was listening to people probably over the airwaves say, The bullet has been dodged. And that was what I was referring to.

Of course, there were plans in case the levee had been breached. There was a sense of relaxation at a critical moment.

President Bush’s story doesn’t hold up.

As our timeline shows, Bush learned of the serious potential that the levees could be topped as early as Sunday, well before the storm hit, during a briefing with the National Hurricane Center director. More importantly, water was flowing over the levees before Katrina hit land at 6:30 a.m. (By late Sunday night, waves were crashing over the levee walkway. By 3 a.m. on Monday, they had failed.)

So Bush’s “sense of relaxation” came long after the levees had been breached.

Note: I became aware of the Think Progress post via John Conyers' blog - see http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=132&topic_id=2086605&mesg_id=2086605

3. WTF is he talking about?
just mindless babble ....

kinda like "having the LA National guard in Iraq did not effect response time."

Sure they didn't need the guard with amphibious vehicles in a flood with
major civil unrest.

4. eerily similar to his disengagement on 9-11
I have found that the children of privilege frequently have inappropriate affect and a weird kind of detachment and denial when faced with reality. They lack a fundamental connection with the world around them and lack empathy for those not similarly privileged as them.

The bushturd is a sociopath and a narcissist.

video of the plane hitting was not shown until 11:00 AM. Besides he had

He couldn't even bother to take one of the three phone calls Nagin tried to make to him during that period.

18. Apparently, a DVD was made for him to watch
as he winged his way to N.O. for another photo-op... So the SOB slacker would have half of the information a normal person would have already known...

24. It was on the news that 1 of the under secretaries made a DVD of the news
To send to bush* while on vacation so he would know just how bad things were. No need to explain their reasons for doing that I guess.

25. too busy vacationing to watch TV news... so his staff
burnt a bunch of newscasts to DVD for him to watch. You'd figure the Crawford Brush Farm and Air Force One had satellite TV, though.

12. "I was listening to people probably over the airwaves"....
OK, this is a quiz. Our President is getting special messages "over the airwaves." He can "listen..." to these messages. Anybody know if others around hear the messages too?

I think we're in even more serious trouble than the serious trouble we all think we're in.

I saw this on the tee vee and I couldn't believe it. Helps to see it again in print.

Thanks paine, you truly are a paine in the arse :)

26. He's an android with a built in radio receiver. Those "ears" are really
high gain UHF antennas. Sure wish they'd try to rewrite the oratory subroutines in assembler to get some of the glitchy hangs out.
