NRA - slams gov for taking guns
Edited on Mon Sep-12-05 06:11 PM by freemen2005
"Local authorities in New Orleans are turning nature's assault on human life into man’s assault on human rights," LaPierre added.
"Four million NRA members intend to stop this unconstitutional power grab."

2. I thought it was the feds that were confiscating guns . . .
This is blaming local law enforcement and Blanco.

6. NO Police Superintendant Compass
issued the order to confiscate and it was being enforced by
NO police officers. There's a thread in the gungeon about it.

5. What does 'regulate' mean then, Chris?
Them boys need them guns to shoot at helicopters 'n looters 'n stuff.
The article doesn't mention any evidence of 'gun seizing' in NO. Does it? Maybe they're just seizing the GUNS THAT WERE STOLEN FROM WAL-MART!

8. If they still have a price tag and the barrels are blue and pretty
and the stocks are freshly oiled.....oh, never mind. My point was, where is the evidence of gun seizing?

9. I hate to say "we told you so"
BUT WE FECKING TOLD YOU SO, NUMB NUTS. We tried to tell the world that this administration is only interested in revoking the rights of US citizens. It doesn't matter if you're part of his base...he'll step on your toes, make you a sacrificial lamb, etc. to get to his end objective. He's quite Machiavellian, he.

Well, its about time that everyone learns just because you're loyal to Bush doesn't mean that he's loyal to you. "hey, it's just business," remember? No hard feelings!

Bushco does what he pleases. His poll numbers are so low he's pretty much going to do whatever the hell he wants because everyone hates him anyway. I mean come on, when the NRA comes out against the Pres then you know he's in deep deep doo-doo.

Hey, don't blame me for this. I tried to keep it from happening. I voted for Gore in 2000 and Kerry in 2004.

11. The NRA is hammering the local officials
and the NO police are being hammered here on DU as well.

The repukes will turn this into another "Democrats are gun grabbers"
opportunity. Its a loser for us.

14. Well
Clinton attributed the repuke takeover of the House of Rep. to passage of the Assault Weapons Ban and Gore likely would have won
enough electoral votes in 2000 to make FL irrelevant if gun control wasn't part of the platform.

13. DAS NRA is blaming the Democrats for this.
The Feds(Bush) are taking the guns away. The NRA is again showing it's partisanship.

16. interested in your thoughts, freemen2005
What do you think about this news?

When quoting Wayne Lapierre, of course, there are things it's useful to point out to people who might not know. Any comment there?

National Organizations With Anti-Gun Policies

The following organizations have lent monetary, grassroots or some other type of direct support to anti-gun organizations. In many instances, these organizations lent their name in support of specific campaigns to pass anti-gun legislation such as the March 1995 HCI "Campaign to Protect Sane Gun Laws." Many of these organizations were listed as "Campaign Partners," for having pledged to fight any efforts to repeal the Brady Act and the Clinton "assault weapons" ban. All have officially endorsed anti-gun positions.
