Piled-Up Bindersgate, v2.0

Most will recall one of the first obscenities of the current administration, when it claimed that the Clinton folks had deliberately trashed the White House before leaving the premises:

As you'll recall, the White House rolled out the red carpet for the GAO to come in and investigate at the behest of Rep. Bob Barr, the thrice-betrothed endorser of the Defense of Marriage Act. (Of course, the final report said that, well, maybe there was some messiness, but nothing malicious.)

If Ed Gillespie, Cliff May and Bob Novak are correct in asserting that Wilson & wife are nothing but political opportunists, then what is the harm in opening up the doors again to investigators? Seems to me Bush & Co. would relish the opportunity to clear the air and certify that the media are chasing nothing but a partisan story. Or are they afraid that, contrary to the findings of the GAO, the FBI might actually turn up something when it comes to the current regime's etiquette?
