Study: Fox News Viewers Most Ignorant, Misinformed
Edited on Fri Oct-03-03 07:48 PM by Patriot_Spear
PIPA's seven polls, which included 9,611 respondents, had a margin of error from 2 to 3.5 percent.

The analysis released Thursday also correlated the misperceptions with the primary news source of the mistaken respondents. For example, 80 percent of those who said they relied on Fox News and 71 percent of those who said they relied on CBS believed at least one of the three misperceptions.

The comparable figures were 47 percent for those who said they relied most on newspapers and magazines and 23 percent for those who said they relied on PBS or National Public Radio.

4. Its Disgusting that many, too many, Americans choose to remain
ignorant and mis informed by listening/watching a media of dubious value.

Its emotionalism gone mad.

We are a singular planet with a singular dominant species bent on madness.

We have the knowledge to do far better but we choose to remain loyal to those who exploit us.

We think in small terms, selfish terms, greedy terms, and thus miss the larger picture.

Seven sins?? Our leaders got them covered big time.

and because we put them there, we are full of the seven sins ourselves.

5. Yet another big surprise, right
Fox represents an alternate reality, or some kind of evil parallel universe. Their new slogan should be, "all spin, all the time".

10. Man O Man.....
Every-time I start having faith in the American people, I see something like this.

I realize fully, that there are many wonderful, informed folks in this country but frankly, the curve is sure getting squashed by the ignorant ones...

If it were just faux viewers that where so completely clueless, this would be funny, rather than depressing.

16. The results can be interpreted two ways
One, that Fox misinforms its viewers, or

two, that Fox viewers are just that much more stupid--Fox gets the bottom half of the bell curve, or

three, both of the above.

21. wait a minute....
The graphic states that it shows the primary news source for those who believe something, expressed as a percent, i.e. proportion of 100 percent. Why don't the numbers sum to 100 percent? If 67 percent of the people who believe the al-Qaida fairytale have Fox as their primary news source, there are only 33 percent left to divide among the other categories. Something doesn't add up here.

24. you misread the chart
what it's saying is that 67 percent of those people who watch fox believe the al-qaeda-iraq fairy tale. It is not a breakdown of those who believe it in terms of where they get their news.

It's showing that while 67 percent of Fox news views are misinformed on this, only 16 percent of people who get news from PBS/NPR are misinformed on this.
