McClellan: a kinder, gentler Ari? (today's press briefing)
I think this is a p.r. move, all about mannerisms and speech patterns. McClellan is just as evasive but has a "kinder, gentler" more precise evasiveness and a teary-eyed look to go with it.

The '"these issues have been addressed" (regarding Niger) refrain was particularly annoying, but the reporters did seem to press in and get more of their forcefulness back today. Ari was impossible to understand, by the time you got his answers deciphered he'd already taken two other questions; wonder what McClellan's m.o. will pan out to be?

I don't know if McClellan will even last since he did seem to lose control of the game a little bit today. I enjoyed it, but it may be that he is a wolf in sheep's clothing like all the rest and can hide his treachery behind feigned humility and nervousness.

7. The reporter was trying to get him to say whether or not
Bush made a MISTAKE; the reporter said "c'mon people 'mis-speak' all the time...". But McClellan just went on to say that what the president meant was that Hussein played alot of games and caused alot of trouble for the inspectors and lied about things. But if that was what I meant to say then I would say that Hussein played alot of games and caused alot of trouble for the inspectors and lied about things. Which is quite different from "he wouldn't let them in". McClellan was trying to say if a=b and b=c then a=c, but a doesn't =c in this case and the reporter was trying to get him to admit it and say that a) the president mis-spoke or b) the president lied. McClellan answer was "the president MEANT..." He translated, rather than just say, Bush fucked up. Which to me seems tons better than saying Bush lied, but apparently they are afraid of both choices

In other words we get to pick. We either have a) a moron for prez, b) a liar, or c) both.

8. I dont' know how you do it,
I cannot watch those shows. I'm afraid I'll throw the T.V. out the window. I wish they had a show like that for wimps called "Nerf-fire" something. Where they have the people in separate rooms and someone runs back and forth bringing them messages from each other. And everyone is polite and no one interrupts, or raises their voice. : )
