WTF Trying to blame lack of help on looters and shooters!
I refuse to buy this shit!! This is some sick shit. We can go across the world to engage enemies who shoot at our helicopters with surface to air missiles, use IEDs, and we can't go into one of our own cities with the kind of gear our military has and rescue people? And I believe the "shooting" and "looting" is being used as a scapegoat for our lack of leadership at the top of this government and military. They are going to try to sell this shit to the evacuees once they are safe...that the reason it took so long was because of looting and a few people with guns? How do we know the people with guns weren't trying to get attention to get rescuers? We already know of three incidents where vehicles were "stolen" (i choose to say "taken") just to get families to safety. The people who took the vehicles said so and have left the vehicles to be returned to the owners. Just when I thought our government would not get worse it just has.

People, don't let them get away with this. It is not true and just another cover up by our government.

1. I called bullshit on this one right away
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 10:38 AM by Juniperx
It makes no sense at all. Just another half-baked excuse that can only be believed if you have had your ration of Kool-Aid.

Edited to say: There was plenty of time to fly supplies in and drop them in populated areas BEFORE the looting started. If you have to loot to save your life, by God, do it! Shooting at helicopters offering relief to their situation, right. Who are they trying to fool?

5. Repukes
are masters of shifting the Blame off onto anyone but themselves and along with the help of the media (faux, cnn, nbc, abc, cbs, msnbc) they get away with it over and over. Yesterday was "Save *'s Ass Day" on all of the media channels and we saw who was getting the blame the Mayor and the Governor, both democrats.

6. All the while saying the Dems are making hay on this
When the Dems bitch about lack of response they are politically driven and it's not the time for pointing fingers. When Repukes blame Dem leaders (who had their hands tied), well, that's another story altogether.

2. Absolutely! These thugs don't take responsibility for anything.
They ALWAYS, ALWAYS point the finger at somebody else.

Oh, God, for another Truman--"the buck stops here."

3. The rescue choppers being used are not armed. Morons are shooting
at them. What the hell would you have them do?

As a Police Officer working the disaster I know you are wrong. We are having problems with armed looters and armed criminals around here also.

You have an opinion based on basicly nothing. I know from experience what the actual problems are. I have to go back to the hell in a few hours.

7. That's the point!
It's all a lie! Why on God's green Earth would people shoot at the helicopters sent to aid them? Think about it!!!

10. Um, I admire your faith in humanity. Afraid it is misplaced. Some
people are just a waste of oxygen.

13. The longer there is chaos the longer the criminals prosper. They
do not want law and order established.

I am done with this type of thread. No hard feelings but I am jsy not in the mood.

14. Nope, nobody's shooting at them -- proof
QUOTE: Laura Brown, a Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman in Washington, said she had no such report.

"We're controlling every single aircraft in that airspace and none of them reported being fired on," she said, adding that the FAA was in contact with the military as well as civilian aircraft.

Superdome Evacuation Disrupted by Report of Gunshot Fired at Military Helicopter; No Injuries Reported

Just as the OP suggests, the reports of all this "violence" are exaggerated AND being used as a cover for their real agenda. Please see this thread for a LOT more information:

4. Remeber Saving Private Lynch?
The Iraqi doctors were TRYING to give her back to the US, but we had to PRETEND that it was a life or death gunfight. In fact, they brought her out in an ambulance but the US forces shot at them and made them return because we wanted to turn into something more interesting amd dangerous, right?

But in N.O., danger is the excuse we made for NOT saving people?!?!? And it's turning out that that was exaggerated too?
