5. About the looting of guns: "These things happen."
Hey look, as a gun owner, I know that the number one thing I have to do is keep mine locked up. The least thing Wal-Mart should have done was lock up or remove theirs, and to my knowledge, they failed to do that. How long would it have taken to load them up in a truck and remove them?

Looking back on the National Hurricane center archives on Katrina, they predicted it would be a major hurricane early last Friday.

The 5AM August 26th discussion: especially note the last paragraph.

8. this whole damned thing
has my head spinning like that chick in "the exorcist." If you go back in the NHC archives you know the meteorologists were going apeshit. They knew this was going to be big. See the links I put up. No excuse for a lack of preparedness this immense.

9. My son works for Wal-Mart
in alabama, between Mobile and Pensacola. They lost power for about 12 hours due to Katrina. He said, when they returned to work, Wal-mart made them remove all of the fresh and frozen foods from the store, dump it all into dumpsters, and pour bleach over it so no one could scavenge it for food. He said a good portion of the frozen food was still frozen, and the fresh food was still in pretty good shape, but they threw it all away instead of giving it to the poor.

I can understand why they wouldn't sell it, but there's an awful lot of very hungry people who could have eaten that food.
