For once and for all, the world IS responding!
I've read a few threads already stating that other countries aren't sending condolences or offers of help. This is NOT TRUE. Click on the link and read the stories if you are not convinced!

3. I could rant all day about Bush's idiotic refusal....
I'm just frustrated that people think the world isn't trying. At the end of the day, its the victims that get screwed. Canada was very generous in their offer and they could be down there helping right now.

Bush better get slammed over this. :grr:

2. We are not being allowed to help!!
Because God knows we would if we could!

"On tonight's news, CTV (Canadian TV) said that support was offered from Canada. Planes are ready to load with food and medical supplies and a system called "DART" which can provide fresh water and medical supplies is standing by. Department of Homeland Security as well as other U.S. agencies were contacted by the Canadian government requesting permission to provide help. Despite this contact, Canada has not been allowed to fly supplies and personnel to the areas hit by Katrina. So, everything here is grounded. Prime Minister Paul Martin is reportedly trying to speak to President Bush tonight or tomorrow to ask him why the U.S. federal government will not allow aid from Canada into Louisiana and Mississippi. That said, the Canadian Red Cross is reportedly allowed into the area.

Canadian agencies are saying that foreign aid is probably not being permitted into Louisiana and Mississippi because of "mass confusion" at the U.S. federal level in the wake of the storm."

5. Yes, turn off Fox. The world is responding. Many did not realize
that it was as bad as it was because M$M was reporting they dodged the big bullet. Canada has had plane on the tarmac for days trying to get permission to fly to NOLA. Citgo pledged a million. France has offered. Russia has offered.

Bush was golfing, so how would he know. Rupert Murdock is a corporate prick who loves causing strife.

9. Hard to imagine that it could happen in a Western country
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 04:46 PM by craigolemiss
Experts in the Netherlands expressed surprise that New Orleans' flood systems failed to restrain the waters.
With half of the country's population of 16 million living below sea level, the Netherlands prepared for a "perfect storm" soon after floods in 1953 killed 2,000 people. The nation installed massive hydraulic sea walls.
"I don't want to sound overly critical, but it's hard to imagine that (the damage caused by Katrina) could happen in a Western country," said Ted Sluijter, spokesman for the park where the sea walls are exhibited.

and we are letting people DIE in the streets and paint them all as 'LOOTERS' if they try to save themselves so it will be easier to swallow the termination.

12. did anyone hear Scott McC's response when someone asked him
if any offers of help have come through to Bush? He said "Several countries have called to offer their condolences" and named some of them. He didn't/wouldn't answer the question.
