Are we vulnerable to a terrorist attack right now?
I hope not, and probably shouldn't have brought it up.
But for somebody that wants to hurt the U.S., this might be the time to act.
I hope not. But Jesus, everybody is distracted right now.
Not trying to make things worse...DU is sometimes a place to get stuff off your chest and I've carrying that idea around for a while...

2. I was thinking that exact same thing today. It would be far, far more
devestating by hitting us while we're down.

3. possibly
I would think so, unfortunately. A double blow to the US economy and psyche might prove irresistable to potential terrorists. Remember, we have done little to secure ports, nukes, chemical factories, transit systems, etc. Bush told the governors to fend for themselves, and the current form of Homeland Security allows most funds to go to states with smaller populations.

4. Now, Now - we must resist thinking of such things
I mean the answer is obvious - let's let then save the people there.

5. No, it's not 'needed'
You've had the equivalent of one without anybody lifting a finger.

8. Be more scared of a country attacking
than a terrorist.

Not all that many friends atm.

14. We've always been vulnerable. Two guys held DC in a panic for
6 weeks. Another person or persons unknown had DC in a panic for a month or so (the anthrax folks). The arabs could have had this country in a perpetual panic since 9-11. It would not take much. A couple of bombs in shopping centers. Slashing tires even. Shooting people. They just showed up in other parts of the world when * ratings dropped.

13. hell, the terrorists are too busy laughing at our lame ass govenrment
the way this disaster has been handled, or rather mishandled, is almost as much of a disaster as the disaster itself.

16. We're vulnerable, period. Despite all the BS Bush dishes, "homeland
security" has not been a priority. First responders not getting the funding, assistance they were promised, etc. Not a matter of more vulnerable "now," just vulnerable period.

This Administration can't even deal with a predicted natural disaster. The response to this hurricane's aftermath makes us look like a third world country.

17. We have been all along.
All that Homeland Offense Gestapo budget went to COINTELPRO bullshit and pepperspraying protesters and launching military assaults on techno concerts.
