But ignorant, bigoted, racist comments are OK for Clear Channel radio ?
Rush Limbaugh has been making much worse comments for years on talk radio than what he resigned for on ESPN. Yet, the radio monster, Clear Channel, has never taken any action against him. "Insensitive" is being kind to Mr Limbaugh. There has never been a black "Democrat" that he has spoken kind words about. From Rev-er-r-r-rend Jackson to Al Sharpton to whatever member of the Black Caucus he might be vilifying today, he has been making insensitive and racist remarks for years, as his "ditto head" followers laugh and cheer him on. But his sponsors and Clear Channel have turned their heads the other way because the "Dittoes" were driving up their ratings. Let's see how they handle Mr Limbaugh now that he has been exposed on national TV? Will they continue to push his junk on their radio stations? If they had any sense of morality or compassion, they would pull Limbaugh off all their stations today.

3. Certaily, you assume...
That Radio Management, indeed anyone in a position of responsibility in any facet of the entertainment industry, has the same ethics, morals and impulse controls as you and people you choose to associate with. They do not. Most of them would commit vile and seemingly impossible acts of sodomy on their own dear mothers, if it meant another quarter point in Arbitron ratings, Neilsen ratings, box-office receipts or another 50,000 albums sold. In public. They would sell tickets and the pay-per-view rights for it, to boot.

These are mature industries, now. There are few if any left with the pioneering, risk-taking spirits of a John Hammond, Howard Hughes, or Sam Goldwyn. These are people who, once they accept that a formula exists, attach their careers to that formula, like barnacles, and stay there, flogging the same old tired crap, until change comes along and scrapes them from the hull of industry. They are not imaginative, nor are they nice.

They are not nice. They understand that Rush is not nice either. They do not care. They are making money. About that, they care. In fact, that is their only concern.

The health and welfare of society do not have a rating system that translates into advertising dollars and gross receipts. Hence, they don't care, and will never care.

4. McNabb was spot on
when he labeled the comments "sad." Even though Limbo got his, it's depressing that he represents such a large block of voters. Ugh.
