Edited on Wed Aug-24-05 07:37 PM by Chocolatebison
the Battleship Iowa to San Francisco but the board of supervisors rejected the idea?

Did she not talk with Chris Daly and Co?

I mean really.

"Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a former San Francisco mayor, helped secure $3 million to tow the Iowa from Rhode Island to the Bay Area in 2001 in hopes of making touristy Fisherman's Wharf its new home."........

6. Pfft...here in Texas, Perry spends 8 million about every other week
calling special sessions that go nowhere. I think he is up to 32 million in wasted taxpayer money.

10. HERE is the truth to this story and the post --------->
San Francisco did reject the berthing of the Iowa. It has been accepted by another town up the river from San Francisco bay. However the republican wannabe Feinstein wants to allow other CA cities to bid on the berthing.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2005/07/14/BAGLJDNMCA1.DTL

The STATE of IOWA which could host the ship on its mississippi river banks EVIDENTLY DOES NOT WANT ITS NAMESAKE SHIP!!!

of course the usual military nut cases are ragging San Francisco (all those homos you know live there) while nobody condemns the state of IOWA at all.

11. Stockton will take and display the ship; what's your problem?
She thought she was doing a good thing. The San Francisco City Counsel doesn't want to send that message or be a party to it.

Things change.

It's not a great time to gush love for war, and sometimes it takes a wake-up call to get that message through.

13. and SF has better things to do w it's warfs
...is it warfs or warves?

Anyway, I disagree that IOWA sends a pro-war message. SF has a submarine and a square-rig in display on its shores, and a battleship is large. Larger than the cruise ships they want to berth.

I see it as an economic issue.
