The God of Oil, Gas, & Cars is Dying, & America will Collapse soon
the car cult is dying, because of the fuel it takes to move them. we're running out of it and so desperate to perpetuate the new car every year crowd and it's billions in profits, and our society is so based on the automobile and other gas fueled machinery, that when it runs out, we are fucked as a nation.

oh, and invading nations and stealing it and causing thousands to die on both sides over it isn't going to work forever. so our society, like all societies, is collapsing.

fine with me, they oughta let it collapse and start all over again.
but when it does collapse, it will be awful to behold.

1. I agree with your view on U.S. imperialism, invading for oil, etc....
...but I get off the train at the doom and gloom predictions. Leave that for the end-of-days types who gather on the hill at sunset waiting for the rapture.

3. Wishing will not make it so
Mopaul has it right. Look about you and consider how many jobs are dependent on a vanishing way of life, be it automotive sales, maintenance, related products, roads, traffic signals, etc. The end of oil, the end of cars, end of a life style and an economy.

We can wish that it won't happen, but unfortunately it will. It is only prudent to be prepared for the inevatible...

2. When it collapses, MILLIONS will suffer then die.
Of course, every time I say how we ought to boycott, I get piles of responses from others whining on how workers will lose their jobs because of it.

Not the same people always, mind you, but it's quite amusing to observe.

Collapse will be nasty and freedom will die along with the people too.

Personally, AMerica is the new Sodom and Gomorrah. Not because of gays; that is a faulty inference on those who do the accusing. Any evangelical fanatical fool needs to READ the passages and not quote their favorite parts like trained parrots. It was selfishness and greed that had God destroying those cities. Homosexuality had nothing to do with it and there are as many Biblical translations that warp it into making it sexual as there are translations that remain accurate.

if you have to live in a big city with no mass transit
how do you suppose we get to say

work
doctor
school
groceries?

or are those unnecessary???

and we are a one car family...have been for 7 years

what about heating cost in the winter

we keep our furnace on 65 but some can't

should I just run right out and buy a wood stove? But then I would have to Drive to get wood and use gas to split it...

7. Eventually those sevices or you are going to have to move
You can't live without a doctor, work, school, food. So either a Dr's office, a small grocery store will be smart and open up in your neighborhood and you can walk there or you will have to move to a livable neighborhood that you can actually get around in without a car.

Unfortanatly for the past 50 years, we have spent a great deal of money building unsustainable neighborhoods in urban sprawl and Suburbia. As Kunstler says, ""We're literally stuck up a cul-de-sac in a cement SUV without a fill-up."

If you live in Suburbia with your 2.3 kids, dog, 3 car garage, and 2 SUV's now would be a great to start changing your lifestyle. Trade in one of the gas guzzlers for a Hybrid or a Diesel and run it on biodiesel (http://www.biodiesel.org). Plant a garden, start shopping at the local stores instead of Wal Mart. Wal Mart won't be able to ship in goods from China and truck them to you for cheal much longer. Learn a skill like carpentry, sewing, knitting, gardening, cooking by taking a class at an adult ed or community college in your area.

11. Bike, bus, carpool and build a solar retrofit.
Mother nature provided us with the means to take care of ourselves. What she does not guarantee is the right to travel anywhere at 40+ mph.

6. The world is changing for sure
We will be forced to live on a smaller scale. No more Factory Farms or Wal Marts. Things will be locally produced, more people will work to grow their own food and make their own things. There will be plenty of hardships, but there will also be some positives.

10. Got a bicycle?
I got two, and some acoustic guitars, drums, lots of old, comfy clothes. :)

Going without AC is tough in New Orleans during the Summer, and the computer stuff is cool, but I can live without all of it. We can roast republicans over a campfire and reminisce about the things we had until Bushler fucked it all up.

14. retooling after world war 2....
it seemed that there were 'vast rightwing' conspiracies going on all the time, following the war and the effort to make the people depend upon the auto by buying up and ruining rapid transit all over the country (i read theodore drieser's 'sister carrie' and they seem to be travelling on trains all the time coming from wilderness country right into and all around dowwntown chicago- there was a story about dr johnson that he maintained correspondence with friends and would write in the morning, the mail delivered a reply and he'd then send his response: mail delivery twice a day...this was in 1800's england!)...there seemed to be efforts to get nuke power adopted, even though nuke power waste outlived any investor, same with cigarretes, plastics, soda pop, electricity, deodorant etc....unless the 'vast rightwing' conspiracy is at least admitted exists, the problems associated with a 'greed initiative' economy can never be solved....the reason 'they' hated communism, and socialism, was that it interfered with haliburton style rip offs which hinged on constantly forcefeeding the people lies about life....corruption isn't spaghetti, to be sorted out, it's just a thief and his loot
