Something EASY you can do to support Cindy Sheehan
Edited on Sun Aug-07-05 11:41 PM by dooner
It's easy and affordable (no excuses) here's what you do:

Buy or make a postcard. Get one that represents you, your home town, or your family.

Write a message to Cindy, let her know what you would like her to tell Bush when she sees him. Show your support for her bravery.

Cindy Sheehan
c/o Crawford Peace House
9142 5th Street
Crawford, TX 76638-3037

Tell your friends.

Let's give those folks down there in Crawford something inspirational and fun to read while they are sitting around in the hot sun.

Let's keep the Crawford mailperson busy. Don't you want to be represented? Of course you do.

52. Good idea!
Just sent mine this morning. Hope it helps.

I saw her on the news last night. I had read an open letter from her on the internet a few weeks ago concerning the "condolence" visit she had with * after her son was killed. From her account, he is just a heartless bastard and used the opportunity as a photo op.

Can't afford to get there -- but if I could I would already be there! You're so right about the "heartlessness," including those pundit's on the blogosphere - paid for by the GOP/ROVE machines.

GO Cindy & Supporters!

My step son is headed for the war. He is not a Bush fan by any means. Cindy is not alone; because of Cindy I know that I and my wife are not alone either.

93. My son fortunately got out of service 18 months ago
but I will keep your stepson in my prayers daily. May he return safe and mentally well to your arms. I know how hard it is, the helplessness - being unable to protect the ones you love dearer than your own life. You and your wife be gentle with each other and take care of each other in his absence. You will each have to recognize when the other is having a bad day, and not take it personally - and that is very hard.

All my best wishes for your family.

What a lovely idea! Maybe if we send enough, it will make it to the local paper. How's this " Crawford Post office overwhelmed with deluge of cards and letters in support of a mother who lost her son in Iraq and is demanding an explanation from Bush"/

Edited on Sun Aug-07-05 11:54 PM by I_Make_Mistakes
It would be awesome to see a news report that the PO was over whelmed by the the number of mailings sent there. Gotta buy a couple postcards tomorrow.

Let's make this a new news story!!! Oh, yeah, and keep those postal workers employed in the process.

20. I'm on it
in fact I just let my son know about Casey and how his
mommy wants to ask the president why . I let him know
that people are going to Crawford to stand by his mommy's
side ,,My son was heading to the car at that reminding me
that we need to bring lots of water. I love my son dearly .
I then had to let him know that she 1784 miles away from us
and that we didn't have the money for the gas it would take
to get to her .. I'm so thankful you gave my son tangible
to do for Casey's mom Cindy .. He's drawing her a picture
to send to her .

does Cindy have a address or a specific location so we can call the local food places to deliver pizzas ect, to her group. We would really cause some attention if the local businesses start getting calls from people all over the country sending food, ect, out to the Cindys group.

Let's do it! Can someone local tells us how to deliver things to the those in the trenches. Cold water, they have wipes, for sweat, ice cream would be good too.

Please don't tell me, Walmart is the only store in the area.

Flowers would be good too, they always pick up the spirit.

76. Here is some info from my other thread.
There is not a pizza place but Kay suggested calling "The Coffee Shop Cafe", owner Sammy Citrano (he caters lots for Bush, sandwich plates and the like), phone 254-840-2027 or to call a new Subway (254-840-0555) in McGregor which is only 6 miles away and someone will go pick them up.
Their is also a Bar-B-Que place in McGregor, have not been able to
reach them yet (254-840-3344).

Water is needed as well, the Peace House ran out of their supply sometime on Saturday.

The Weight of a Snowflake

"Tell me the weight of a snowflake," a coalmouse asked a wild dove.

"Nothing more than nothing," the dove answered.

"In that case I must tell you a marvelous story," the coalmouse said. "I sat on a fir branch close to the trunk when it began to snow. Not heavily, not in a raging blizzard. No, just like in a dream, without any violence at all. Since I didn't have anything better to do, I counted the snowflakes settling on the twigs and needles of my branch. Their number was exactly 3,471,952. When the next snowflake dropped onto the branch--nothing more than nothing -- as you say -- the branch broke off."

Having said that, the coalmouse ran away.

The dove, since Noah's time an authority on peace, thought about the story for a while. Finally, she said to herself, "Perhaps there is only one person's voice lacking for peace to come to the world." - Source unknown

37. Postage for post cards mailed in the US...(as an FYI)..
'normal size' are 23 cents:

Dimension; Minimum; Maximum

Height; 3-1/2 inches; 4-1/4 inches
Length; 5 inches; 6 inches
Thickness; 0.007 inch; 0.016 inch

Any item smaller than the minimum dimensions is not mailable.

A postcard larger than the above will need a first class stamp of .37 cents if the height is no more than 6 1/8 inches & the length is no more than 11 1/2 inches.

I thought this might be helpful if people print out their own cards with images from their PC.

Info per usps.gov

80. There's Something Happening Here........................

What it is ain't exactly clear
There's a man with a gun over there
Telling me I got to beware
I think it's time we stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
There's battle lines being drawn
Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Young people speaking their minds
Getting so much resistance from behind
I think it's time we stop, hey, what's that sound

Everybody look what's going down
What a field-day for the heat
A thousand people in the street
Singing songs and carrying signs
Mostly say, hooray for our side
It's time we stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Paranoia strikes deep
Into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid
You step out of line, the man come and take you away
We better stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, hey, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, now, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down
Stop, children, what's that sound
Everybody look what's going down

-Buffalo Springfield

94. Great idea! Done! Cash and card to Cindy at Crawford Peace House!
Thanks for the address!

One of the things that has most broken my heart about the Bush regime is that Americans are such a good people, so willing to help when we are needed, so willing to cooperate and sacrifice for the common good, so responsive, so creative, so large-minded and progressive, and so generous. Just ask us. JUST ASK US! And we will do whatever needs to be done--to save the planet, to conserve oil, to convert to alternative energy, to create peace, to learn conflict resolution skills, to find new building materials to save forests, to restore creeks and rivers, to learn languages, improve our cultural sensitivity and become good citizens of the world...

...you name it, we will do it.

And the Bush Cartel has taken that trust, that generosity, that willingness to help, and has just thrown it away like so much trash.

I remember the drought crisis in California some time back. The Governor asked Californians to conserve water. Within weeks, swimming pools were drained, lawns were converted to native plants, bricks went into toilets and, a bit later, all sorts of devices were invented, manufactured and distributed to save and recycle water. Instantly, all over the state, there was willing and eager cooperation. I will never forget this. All that is needed is a bit of LEADERSHIP. It doesn't even have to be brilliant leadership--just common sense leadership, practical leadership.

This instant DU response to the Cindy Sheehan protest in Crawford reminded me of this--how willing we are to help, how very typical it is of us, as a people, and how much we love to do it, to join together, each doing our part, for a worthy project.

What we have now in DC (and AWOL again in Crawford) is a VACUUM at the top. NO LEADERSHIP. No inspiration. No projects for the common good. No SENSE of the common good. No understanding of us as a people. No appeal to the best in us. No ideas. Just contempt. Lies and manipulation and contempt. It's so sad. It's such a waste of us--and of all that we could and would be doing for ourselves and for the world, if only we were asked.

People and groups can, of course, organize many things on their own--as Cindy and others are doing in Crawford, and as we are doing here. But big things--like conversion to alternative energy--need government leadership and resources, as well as citizen cooperation. Whatever is needed can happen much faster with political leadership and even just a little bit of inspiration and encouragement.

Nothing. Nothing there. Total waste of a country that has proven itself, time and again, to be willing to pull together.

It is probably one of the Bush Cartel's more minor crimes--compared to the awful things they've done. But it makes me sad--in the same way that their assault on the Uniform Code of Military Justice makes me sad, for the people whose ideals and loyalty to the law were trashed, their sense of ethics spat upon, their service demeaned. Such a waste. Such contempt for the best in human beings.

Ah, me.

Here's what I'm going to send Cindy Sheehan:

1. Some of the Bush Lied/Soldiers Died postcards from the progressive alternative to Drudge, Buzzflash.com (link: http://www.buzzflash.com )

Postcards: Bush Lied and Soldiers Died
http://www.buzzflash.com/premiums/05/02/pre05016.html

2. An assortment of the Deception Dollars produced by the 911 Truth movement, and endorsed by many of the 911 Families (links http://www.911truth.org and http://www.deceptiondollar.com _

3. A copy of Katherine Yurica's book, "Bloodguilty Churches: Why Bush's Agenda is Immoral and an Abomination to God". (link http://www.yuricareport.com

The complete book "Bloodguilty Churches" is available free online here:
