Fighting to the embarassment, disappointment, etc. maybe. But nobody's talking about death, for pete's sake.
The only way a democracy can survive is if you have opposition.
The otehr cliche "picking our battles" hasn't been working. Why continue to do it? Especially since the opposition who were criticized by the Democratic "conventional wisdom" have been shown to be correct. Remember those crazy, out of step "fringe" opponents of the Iraq War, who didn't choose to listen to the DLC mantras about "picking our battles"?
