Am I the only one wondering where Gannon fits into Rove's Plame leak?
I was just doing a search on Gannon and the plame outing and ran across the following from last year on daily kos.

(There's LOTS more at the link)

http://72.14.207.104/search?q=cache:xxKuitP1oIwJ:www.dailykos.com/story/2005/2/9/191334/0754+jeff+gannon+joe+wilson&hl=en&ie=UTF-8

This diary condenses the huge and detailed timeline laid out in the previous diary "Plame leak timeline II".

It lays the case for the leak of the classified 2002 CIA memo to Gannon.

For all interested, please read the original diary as it contains facts, sources, etc.

Thanks to all for your help compiling this, thanks to Ambassador Wilson for filling in some holes and special thanks to Kiw for all her help tracking down leads.

And of course, SusanG, who started the ball rolling and continues to dig for the larger story.

Diaries :: spiderleaf's diary :: ::
As the Iraq war raged and as the truth surrounding the forged documents that claimed Saddam attempted to buy yellowcake uranium from Niger emerged, a website and news organization came into being... Talon News (March 29, 2003)... owned by GOPUSA.com. Within days `Jeff Gannon', a man with no journalism experience secured White House briefing room press credentials (April 3, 2003).

2. Gannon was the tool by which they denigrated every word the dems
said while committing their criminal acts. They had the happy hooker (please excuse me Xviara Hollander) make derrogatory comments about the democrats and pushing their own talking points in his snotty condecending nasty little tone of voice. That way dems looked like a bunch of sorry losers (so they thought) and they figured the bad press coverage would diminish all our credibility.

3. Gannon really was a consumer of info. He read it about it in the WSJ.
He's a cog. A freeper. A red herring.

8. I don't know
Maybe it's wishful thinking but I can't help but hope that Plamegate/ Rovegate could take a turn into sex scandal territory.

Maybe THEN the public would pay A LOT of attention!

12. It's bad enough that it's a war and truth scandal.
If I had a wish, I would not wish for another stupid sex scandal to occupy the media. I'd wish for a media that had the brains and maturity to handle the kind of scandal this actually is. (Actually, I'd wish for a progressive in the White House. ;) )

However, when this all comes out, I'll bet Gannon will be nothing more the answer to a trivia question.

9. yeah that's what I am thinking
And I just read on another DU thread that Fitzgerald may be looking into Ari Fleisher and McClellan again.

I remember there was a lot of speculating about the nature of Scotty boy and Jeff's *relationship*

It really makes me wonder.

11. Your not the only one
This was on Lunaville this morning.

<http://www.lunaville.com/blogging/>

apparantly from a Sydney Blumenthal article on Salon yesterday.

Curiously, the only document cited as the basis for Plame's role was a State Department memo that was later debunked by the CIA. The Washington Post, on Dec. 26, 2003, reported: "CIA officials have challenged the accuracy of the ... document, the official said, because the agency officer identified as talking about Plame's alleged role in arranging Wilson's trip could not have attended the meeting. 'It has been circulated around,' one official said." Even more curious, one of the outlets where the document was circulated was Talon News Service and its star correspondent, Jeff Gannon (aka Guckert). (Talon was revealed to be a partisan front for a Texas-based operation called GOPUSA and Gannon was exposed as a male prostitute, without previous journalistic credentials yet with easy and unexplained access to the White House.) According to the Post, "the CIA believes that people in the administration continue to release classified information to damage the figures at the center of the controversy."

So I'm curious - when was it circulated to Talon?

17. Waaaay back at the beginning of the year,
when Fitzgerald was issuing subpoenas for WH communications with reporters, in addition to Judy Miller and Cooper (and Chris Matthews, and several others), guess who else was on the list?

Jeff Gannon.

http://justoneminute.typepad.com/main/2004/03/vpw_newsday_on_.html

So we certainly know that Fitzgerald is AWARE of this angle.....

18. When you think about it
there's a reason why they call Rove a whistle blower and Gannon's nickname is Whistle.
