Wear red on Friday
I know this is probably old news but check out this e-mail I got yesterday. Someone sent it to me at work, I took out her name and e-mail address. My mother told me I should wear a black arm band and I'm looking for one today.

What is so funny about this is that in my area there is quite a bit of gang activity. I work with grown ass people who still throw gang symbols. Anyways, the gang of choice in that area is Crypt. So when this e-mail went out all the old gang members cracked up. Below is the e-mail text.

RED FRIDAYS

You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's
why.....

The Americans who support our troops are the silent majority. We are
not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions
are. Many Americans, like yourself and all their friends, simply want
to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our
solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday, 24 June 2005,
and continuing on each and every Friday until this is over, that every
red -blooded American who supports our young men and women WEAR
SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States,
on any given Friday, a sea of RED much like a home football game at a
university. If every one of our memberships share this with other
acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it
will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our
troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will
feel better all day Friday when you wear RED! So let's get the word
out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

I sent this out to everyone on my email list; hopefully, you will too.
Please forward this to everyone you know!! Wear Red on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE
BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.

1. The Bloods will be happy to know the right wing is on their side
but I'm doubting the old rich white males wearing red will set off an alarm with the crypts. :-)

funny though. They need to where BK athletic shoes too to really confuse the issue.

3. WOW. What a great idea!
:sarcasm:

So, if I wear red tomorrow and every Friday, my cousin who is on the ground in Fallujah will have extra support? He will have the proper armor for the troops he is leading? That is such great news!!! And here, I thought I had to pray to get him back on US Soil in order to support him.

I wish I had known about this earlier. Would have saved me a lot of worrying.

This people are idiots. Anyone I see wearing red on Fridays gets an enlistment form from me.

We ought to be wearing blue.

Fuckers.

4. The red should represent the blood shed by our troops and
especially the innocent Iraqis that are caught up in this illegal war.

7. I Wear Yellow 'Cause I Support the Troops, White To Bring them Home...
Blue because the Democrats really won the 2000 and 2004 elections,
Green because we should be using more renewables rather than piratizing Iraq,
Pink in solidarity with the gay people who the Rethugs love to hate,
and red for all the blood that the regime is spilling.

8. this was from last year (I am not Nadia)
My name is Nadia Jensen and I have an idea for a quiet revolution. Please take a minute to read my email and then join me if you can:

Here's some history behind this idea: When Norway was occupied by Germany in 1940, Norwegian women began to knit RED caps for children as a way of letting everyone know that they did not like what was happening in their country, that they didn't like having their freedom taken away. My great aunt, Karin Knudson Myrstad, was one of the women who knit red caps for her children and others. Similarly, in Denmark, women knit red-white-and blue caps (colors of the Allies) for the very same reason.

The result was that whenever Norwegians and Danes left their homes -- to go to the store, to work, etc, they could see that THE MAJORITY opposed what was going on in their country. As you know, both countries organized effective Resistance efforts and changed history -- everything that happened began simply by wearing red!!!! (or the colors of the Allies, in Denmark).

1. BACKGROUND: I believe, as many of us do, that at the very heart of our democracy is our right to oppose the policies of our government. Increasingly, our Government is redefining "freedom" in ways that make too many Americans perceive that it is risky to oppose the policies. However, many of us DO oppose what our government is doing to individual rights as well as to the U.S. position in the world and I have an idea that will allow all of us to recognize each other very easily so we can see that WE ARE THE MAJORITY.

2. SO...I have been thinking that it's time to take action in a way that is effective and easy for all of us to do:

Just wear red every Friday between now and election day.

Wear a little or a lot-- just be sure that when you leave your house to go about your day to work, to school, to the store, to the gas station, wherever you go in your daily routine -- that everyone who sees you will see that you are wearing red because you believe in freedom and you don't agree with our current administration's policies at home and abroad. I'm really certain that we'll see that lots of us wearing red for freedom -- because WE ARE THE MAJORITY. We just need a way to show each other who we are!!! Betweeen now and election day, ask everyone you know to wear red for "Freedom Fridays".

3. I have already spread the word to friends and have had a very enthusiastic response. This email has been forwarded around the country by many who receive it - feel free to send in on to your friends and co-workers.

16. Yeah, it always tickles me to think of folks whose political views are
so diametrically opposed, both propagating the whole "wear red" thing.

17. Does this mean I get to do more patriotic shopping?
I get to buy some new red outfits :woohoo:. I like your mom's arm band idea. I've got too much MS13 in my area to be flaunting any gang colors.
