WP may be day ahead of itself in NAACP article: Dean has not spoken yet.
This is weird. As far as I can tell he is due to speak there tomorrow. See this blog post from the DNC Kicking Ass blog:

http://www.democrats.org/a/2005/07/on_the_road_aga.php

"The Governor and I are heading back out on the road this week. First up is Madison on Wednesday to attend a fundraiser for the Wisconsin State Party. I've been told some good bratwurst can be found in Madison, so I'm looking forward to the trip.

On Thursday morning, we address the NAACP conference in Milwaukee, and then it's on to the Denver area for a rally to help the Colorado Democratic Party. Tickets are just $50 and you can go to click here to sign up for the event."

I think Fred knows the schedule. Unless it was changed, someone let the quote out of the bag.

Here is the WP article about Mehlman speaking:

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/07/13/AR2005071302342.html

The article is dated July 14, Thursday.

It says this near the bottom:

"Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean spoke to the NAACP yesterday and said through an aide: "It's no coincidence that 43 out of 43 members of the Congressional Black Caucus are Democrats. The Democratic Party is the real party of opportunity for African Americans.""

Maybe the schedule changed? There is nothing else in the news about it at all. I don't think it changed. Strange.

1. WTF?
:wtf:

How can they quote him if he hasn't spoken yet? But, the article did say "through an aide". So it may be a quote before he speaks.

2. Confusing, isn't it. Says he spoke but not yet.
That may be a release through an aide. Media getting ahead of itself again. :hi:

4. Was an advance copy of speech given out?
If not then this needs to be looked into. Seriously.
