Schwarzenegger resoundingly boo-ed at LA Mayor's Inaugural!
It was great! Villaraigossa was mentioning all the honored guests--Gore, former Mayor Hahn, etc.--all of whom got various degrees of applause. But when he got to Arnold, Villaraigossa had to STOP his speech and plead with them to remain civil.

23. Actually, I think Ah-nold is a bigger and better target to pick off
than DeLay. CA is too important to Dem politics. The disaster that is Ah-nold may put CA firmly in the blue column for a couple of decades. Especially when you think that bushco saw him as a rising poster boy.

BTW - we haven't heard much talk of that change to the Constitution to allow foreign-born people to run for pres since Ah-nold's number started their nosedive, have we?

Further BTW - Ah-nold is getting absolutely hammered out here in TV commercials. He's called a special election that will cost $50MM. The commercials ask why we'd ever give him more power when he hasn't fulfilled any of his promises from the last campaign. Powerful stuff.

Good work all around.

as much as I distrust Arnold. I heard Diebold was being used??!

Furthermore, this whim of his is going to cost my county $2 million (approx); enough that the county will have to lay off 50 county workers! WTF do WE need this for? We don't!! I would rather have the services of 50 county workers. Arnold sucks and he's going down, just like the rest of the repub crooks.

was absolutely in his element and LA citizens are not known for getting fired up easily... Antonio was absolutely in command and showed a generosity of spirit that you see from the truly great orators. He was that good today. Natalie Cole did America the Beautiful with a gospel edge and it was heart rending. Then Rev. Cecil Murray had everybody hug and that was  to see who was sitting next to who for that special moment! Loved it! I truly treasure that I was able to watch the whole thing live!

DREAM WITH HIM, LA, DREAM WITH HIM! Villaraigosa, A Dem to watch! It was powerful.

62. Before the festivities began the whores on
the local CBS affiliate were making inane small talk and had nothing but nasty things to say about Gore. "At least he shaved the beard. No one seems to be paying any attention to him. Maxine Waters didn't even notice him...." They were whoring overtime.

Then, when the new Mayor began his speech, he first acknowledged Gore, who got a big, thunderous round of applause. When he mentioned Ahnold, the booing started. It was a wonderful moment, especially considering the crap that had preceded it.

67. Too bad I missed that! Maybe it will get replayed on the evening news.
So the crowd managed to smack down Ah-nold AND the media whores at the same time? I would LOVE to see that!

68. just before the election I heard on NPR that V was bringing together
blacks and Latinos in the long dreamed of cooperation between the 2 groups

also other groups, eg Caucasians, involved.....but the news was that the 2 largest minorities were now working together successfully....and leaving for the listener the question: could this cooperation start to affect (positively for democrats) the political scene in other states and at the national level

sounds like it's off to a good start

87. The Black and Brown Communities Got Together for Once

and supported two candidates in the Primary - Bernard Parks and Antonio. IMO, it was a master stroke.

One of the brokers for the deal was Martin Ludlow, a city councilman and also the son in law of Bishop Blake of West Angeles Church. Ludlow is equally as charming and young and movie star quality as Antonio. He is waiting in the wings and Antonio will owe him big time. Ludlow helped bring the Black voters in large numbers.

Martin supported Antonio. Bishop Blake is head of West Los Angeles Church(Magic Johnson/Denzel Washington's church) and it a extremely powerful in the Black community.

Bernard Parks, did not have a chance with that power behind Antonio.
I am a friend and supporter of Bernard's but this was not his race to win.

The day belonged to Antonio!

He has pledged to make Los Angeles a City for ALL the angels of all colors. That is the way that it should be.

Ole Antonio --- you made us thrilled today!!!

79. I see
Edited on Fri Jul-01-05 06:59 PM by jokerman93
I see a Terminator 4 direct to video, in Ahnold's future. He should have stuck to what he knows. His "Triumph of the Will" dreams of speachifying to massive rallies of cheering devotees are gone in smoke. Maybe we'll eventually learn not to be so taken in by PR and the charismatic allure of our would-be leaders.

Maybe, but I doubt it. American's have proved to be dumber than a box of hammers for the most part. Just look who's riding his little tricycle around the WH hallways these days...

He has charisma and he thinks on his feet!!! Heads-up, everyone... he will be president one day.
