CODEX ALIMENTARIS ENDS U.S. SUPPLEMENTS IN JUNE 2005

By Dr. James Howenstine, MD.
March 6, 2005
NewsWithViews.com

Working stealthily BIG PHARMA has rapidly pushed their legislative program (Codex Alimentaris) in Europe that will eliminate the free choice Americans now have to purchase vitamins, herbs, minerals, homeopathic remedies, aminoacids and nutritional supplements. This elimination of all competition for the pharmaceutical industry will produce an enormous increase in the already exorbitant profits earned by the pharmaceutical firms. Of even greater significance the lack of free choice to stay well by taking effective nutritional substances will promptly be followed by a sharp increase in illnesses that will only be treated in the future with pharmaceutical drugs.

The new Codex Alimentaris adopted in a secret meeting in Europe in November 2004 is scheduled to take effect in June 2005. Because the United States belongs to the World Trade Organization WTO any changes approved in Europe automatically become law in the United States superceding our own laws (we are no longer a sovereign nation). Failure to comply with these changes institutes lawsuits which can not be won as they are settled in international courts which care nothing about U.S. laws. Incidentally, Europe has been very leery of genetically modified foods because of serious concerns about their safety. By this same WTO mechanism Europe will be forced to accept importation of U.S. GMO foods even if they know they are bad for health.

The features of Codex Alimentaris are:

*
No supplements can be sold for preventative or therapeutic use.
*
Any potency higher than RDA levels (pathetically low) is a drug that requires a prescription and must be produced by drug companies.
*
Codex regulations are binding internationally
*
New supplements are banned unless given Codex testing and approval (certain to expensive and lacking in scientific merit). Norway and Germany are already operating under the new Codex regulations. The price of zinc tablets has gone from $4 to $52. Echinacea has risen from $14 to $153.
*
Codex regulations are not based on science or research findings. These regulations were developed by 11 appointed persons. Guess who appointed them?

Why Haven't I Heard About This?

The controlled press has been instructed to avoid commenting on this issue until it becomes a fait accomplis. At that time your congressional legislators will say they are sorry but there is nothing they can do to reverse the Codex. The truth is they were, all but a few, bought and paid for back when the World Trade Organization was ratified by the U.S. Congress

supplements have skyrocketed. Vitamins won't be illegal, just very expensive.

Please keep in mind the most recent SC decision saying fed law supercedes state law concerning medicinal marijuana. Good luck, now say good night.

13. Why why WHY
Yes, let's give a full airing to some of the other useful topics on "newswithviews"

Violent sexual predators armed with handguns and rifles are social menaces and medical hazards. Surprising numbers of armed violent sexual predators are illegal aliens. Illegal alien invaders flout basic American law and bring sexually transmitted diseases to California, Arizona, Texas, and heartland states such as Iowa and Minnesota.

Indeed! Tell me more about this grave threat to America!

Unfortunately, teachers in California are so incompetent that they can’t get jobs in other fields or industries. They’re forced to teach. Their livelihoods are dependent upon how much the government will pay them, and how quickly it will do so. Therefore, they see any proposal that limits their ability to quickly and effectively soak up tax dollars as an offense against humanity.

But surely we can rely upon the UN to protect us from the evil teachers!

America’s mayors are the elected representatives closest to the people. They are the ones that our founders intended to have the most influence over our daily lives. If the UN succeeds in its efforts to enforce Sustainable Development policy through our mayors, the process will accelerate at an astounding rate and locally-controlled government will cease to exist.

Nooooooooooo!

Okay, Sen. Hutton, we’re listening. At the very least, clarification of what “made-in-America” means to a leftist Democrat should prove enlightening. And enlightening it is; true to form, “made-in-America” is Democrat code for “made-for-the-U.N.”

Can we please NOT listen to RIGHT-WING HATE SITES? Come on, people. This is fucking insane.

14. wow, I read about this before but didn't think it could be real
it's so ludicrous, but I guess I underestimated the insanity and greed. This is so messed up and makes no sense. why are they picking on supplements that have been used for many more years than lab created meds, why don't they go after the candies and cereals etc. that have nasty dyes and funky ingredients, or Twinkies, or hot dogs, or even-cigarretes!

This really is a shock to me, I can't imagine not being able to go to Whole Foods or the co-op and get my truly vital supplements, and those businesses are going to flounder since they rely so much on the sale of supplements, and that is one draw of health food stores. Now I guess we'll have to find some guy standing on a street corner, jacket full of $40 zinc and Vit C. Could you imagine calling home from the police station, "hey can you bail me out, I got arrested for buying Vit C" I wonder if they'll place a limit on oranges too.

21. Read what Snopes has to say.
www.snopes.com/politics/medical/vitamins.asp

And, if you want to Google it yourself, you might get more hits with the correct spelling: "Codex Alimentarius".

i've got a real problem taking seriously a guy who can't spell Codex Alimentarius correctly in his literature, and writes articles about how abortions increase breast cancer risks.

that being said - this is certainly a sketchy ruling on the part of the EU - hopefully america's distrust for all things UN related will work in our favor.

27. What's correct, neither spelling is in the dictionary, Alimentary
means concerned with food. When will you take it seriously, when vitamin C is 75.00 a bottle and you need a prescription from a doctor to get it? I wonder if the DEA will be busting into people's houses looking for CDS. Go on the DEA's website, their big hunt is for people selling illegal prescription drugs. I'm not saying this will happen but given this administrations pharma whore tendencies it wouldn't surprise me.

30. Codex Alimentarius is a UN group
that has been around since at least the 60s. they basically make their recommendations on nutrition and the like.

Now i do have concernce about the supplement industry (not vitamins), but my beef is with our very own FDA on that bit.

29. I'm not a Latin scholar, but...
Edited on Tue Jun-28-05 05:20 PM by scottxyz
If "alimentaris" were the genitive plural of "food" then "codex alimentaris" would mean "code of foods" or law about foods.

Can any Latin scholars check this out?

Edit:

I just did a google search, and it looks like nouns in the genitive plural in Latin tend to end in "-arum" "-orum" "-um" or "-ium".

http://ace.acadiau.ca/arts/classics/COURSES/2233/Nomenc/Nomenc_.htm

So I guess "-aris" is NOT a genitive plural ending.

Also, there seems to be an official website about this "codex" called www.codexalimentarius.net - so I guess "alimentarius" is an adjective and we're talking about "food code" here, rather than "code of food".

Disclaimer: I never studied Latin!

24. I read something of this nature in 2000
maybe not the same program but very similar. Whether or not this is real is largley irrelavant, the fact is parma co.'s ARE pushing to make vitamins perscription only. This has been going on for years and with the enormous lobby they have right now don't be suprised to see a bill come up in congress. Understand, they DO NOT want us to be healthy it isn't profitable. Think of the huge windfall for pharma and healthcare industries if everyone had to see a doctor to get vitamins/herbs. Huge profits, huge lobby, stupid ass sheeple. This won't be the last time we'll hear of something like this.
