Heartbreaking interview w/ family of slain MN soldier
James Herrgott was a 20 year old soldier from Shakopee, Minnesota who was shot in the neck by a sniper outside the Iraqi National Museum, which he was guarding. He is the first Minnesotan to die in Iraq.

Minnesota Public Radio (www.mpr.org) has been running a heartbreaking story on this young life destroyed by war.

The family is greiving and they are asking very serious questions about Jim's Commander-in-Chief. Some quotes I heard from Jim's aunt:
"President Bush declared major combat operations to be over on May 1st. But combat is not over, our soldiers are getting shot at every day and we don't even know who's doing it."
"And then a few weeks ago he said 'Bring 'em on'. Well, they brought it on and now my nephew's dead!"

Please keep this family in your thoughts/prayers/meditations. Thanks.

1. By focusing the attention to the ME,
shrub has kept the terrorist killings away from our shore. How dare he say "bring it on" to kill our sons and daughters!

4. casualties in the Heartland
Everytime someone from MN or WI comes home in a box, it is getting a lot of media attention here in the Twin Cities. You should've heard the sadness and bitterness in the voice of Jim Herrgott's aunt talking about the "Bring 'Em On" quote. Those three words may very well spell defeat of B*sh here in the midwest.

I hope there is not a single further death in Iraq, but if things keep up the way they have been going, B*sh is going to be about as welcome as a turd in the punchbowl around here.

3. SC has had one death
I think someone at DU should maybe start a tally of states affected by Bush's lies and "Bring it on" comments.

5. yep! let's track the names, the hometowns,
the family members who are never going to see their sons, daughters, husband, wives, fathers or mothers again.
These people are not numbers, they are not statistics. Losing them is going to leave a gaping hole in the lives left behind.
And how many of those who do make it home are going to come back with severe psychological and emotional problems because of the things they've seen and the things they were made to do?

Let "bring 'em on" go down in the history books as the three most callous and arrogant words ever spoken by an American president.
