Jesus, I've traveled back to the 60's
No, I haven't taken any illicit substances. But it is uncanny how this previous week has reminded me of the late 60's, early 70's.

You can see it. The party in power is scared shitless that Americans are waking up and realizing that we're in a quagmire in Iraq. Even some of their own are jumping ship and admitting that the war is based on lies facilitated by their great leader and his neocon friends.

A memo is circulated. It finally gets some play here in the US. It is the smoking gun. Are the new Woodward and Bernstein's ready to come out? Or better yet, some pissed off person working behind the scenes to become possibly the next "deep throat."

The party in power is getting their signals crossed. Rummy says things are going swimmingly in Iraq and we're winning. A top general testifies that things aren't going well at all. The message keeps getting mixed up. It is a PR disaster.

The president and the congress have extremely low approval ratings. Things are really in the shitter. Wild, incredible charges are made. "Gotta get the people's minds off the war." The opposition party is the real culprit in things going wrong. Air America, Senator Durbin, THE DEMOCRATS! Yeah, that's the ticket. Tell the Democrats and all anti-war folks that they're un-American and don't support the troops. If we lose, then it's "their" fault. Remember "love it or leave it."

Anger is swelling in the world toward the US. Look at the recent study done. Hell, even China is getting more respect than the US. And did I read this correctly - 6000 Americans serving in the military have crossed into Canada for amnesty? Man, it is the 60's.

This administration and all who support it are in deep trouble. They will try everything they can to change the message. But it won't work. Good people are now fighting back. The illegal war is a lost cause. It will take decades for the US to recover from the humiliation and shame. Just like Vietnam.

Just like the 60's.

3. Stay Home....
If everyone opposed to the war would stay home one day from work and risk all that would come with that decision...the corporate puppets that run this government would stand down so fast troop withdrawals would start within the same week.....

11. Thank you. I've been around for awhile
I'm the original "Ishoutandscream" of several thousand posts. I love this site and consider ya'll to be family.

I told my wife today that I was going to check the news. Instead of turning on the TV or radio, or picking up a paper, I turned on the ol' Dell and logged onto Democratic Underground. It is my source for news!

9. Yes, it sure is.
Nixon resigned before they impeached him, if I remember correctly. Anyway he went when he knew he couldn't win. Let's hope this gang exits with equal grace.

13. I'm afraid of what they might do to.
I wonder if our military Joint Chiefs of Staff will step in and refuse to take orders anymore from the Commander-In-Chief. I notice today that they are disagreeing with Rumsfeld instead of agreeing or keeping silent. It kind of gives me hope that they could pressure them behind the scenes from doing anymore crazy military actions.

15. Yeah, its eerie...
but of course the GOP's main response is, this isn't Vietnam, it is nothing like Vietnam. I'm like, well, its smells, looks, feels, and from what i'm hearing, it sounds just like vietnam, the only difference is, its in Iraq.
