3. It's a miracle! Coleman gets a senate seat, banking vultures live...
Edited on Sun Jun-19-05 09:15 AM by HypnoToad
Wellstone dies and rethugs cheer and dance.

Coleman also said "I thank god for this opportunity". Uh-huh. Death is an opportunity to those leeches to advance. Nothing more.

Whoops. Despite the bold face on the right side for the DSM, the plain-face "miracle" report was seen first. How odd. :sarcasm:

10. First thing you need to do is to get the picture into a JPG or GIF format.
The easiest way to do that is with a digital camera. I think scanners also create a JPG or GIF file, but you need to read the documentation.

I had posted a thread about posting pictures in GD. Here's a link:

17. To post a front page of a paper
First go www.newseum.org

Then click on the link on the right to Today's Front Pages
Then move your cursor over the pages and they will appear on the right. Doube-click one of the pages you want to see and a window will open with a larger view of the front page.

Right click on the page and select properties. The url for the page will appear. Copy it and then paste it directly into a reply window in DU and the page will appear in your post.

You can click on Preview before you post it to make sure you did it correctly.

got great coverage (even if they did use mostly AP sources). I'm very pleased!

Here's a link to the online site:

24. Actually, the Slantinel Does Today ...
I was quite pleasantly surprised to see the DSM (at least an upper left-hand teaser) mentioned on the front page this morning, although the stories themselves are buried several pages beyond Page 1. I've sent many letters to the editor complaining about their lack of DSM coverage. Last week, the editor shockingly mentioned the dearth of coverage in an editorial piece. I've also read a few LTTE that cite the DSM media slight. Perhaps, some sleeping biased eyes are beginning to crack open?

28. Damn, I did a web search before posting.
I didn't want to have to go out and buy the damn thing, now I'll have to.

I read Manning's little blurb too. Hard to make sense of, something about a lack of coverage but with no apology for nor explanation of the coverage..............odd reading.

But the cast of characters is really what tells the Slantinel story, Kathleen Parker, Tom (Puff-piece) Friedman, Myriam Marquez, Dave (Brown -shirt) Brown. I miss Charlie Reese so bad.

12. Not even mentioned in National section of Austin's purported paper.
Of course, the Democracyfest 2005, despite it's roster of headliners, was mentioned in passing along with Howard Dean's speech which rated a 20 line blurb on Pg B-2, under articles reporting the arrest of a woman accused of spitting on a state trooper's uniform and that the County Sheriff needs volunteer deputies. It was a gathering of "self-styled progressives". Is that condescending or what?

>> Highly classified documents leaked in Britain appear to provide new evidence that President Bush and his national security team decided to invade Iraq much earlier than they have acknowledged and marched to war without dwelling on the potential perils. <<

How... restrained... of them not to mention that Bush & Co LIED about their time table and the evidence to justify the war.

EDIT PS: Ooops, this was supposed to be in response to the WV paper, not Tennesee. My bad.

drive to war. No link, cause it's not on the online version. Large photos of Blair and the chimp, who's making a strange "raspberry" monkey lip shape with his mouth. Also, they printed lots of the juicy parts of the memos themselves. Good. Hard to dispute that.

44. Raleigh News & Observer
"Downing St. memos ecoho U.S. drumbeat for war"

Short intro on front page - carries over to 4-column-wide & 2/3 page article including large "war scene" picture and small tony & bush picture.

Sub headlines:

War seemed like a sure thing
Timing touchy for Bush
Public knowledge in 2002
White House mobilizes
'Wrongfooting' Saddam

Essentially lays it all out and doesn't undermine it at all.

""The notion that the public has been lied to could have a very toxic effect on public support," Christopher Gelpi, a Duke University political science professor who studies public opinion and the use of force. He also said the impact of the British memos is unclear since they haven't received wide media attention until recently.

My father bought a sunday paper today, when he brought it home the headline on the front page was about the downing street memo. And this paper is Republican owned, they endorsed Bush, and they generally support Republican issues on their opinion page.

This is the first time they have even mentioned the downing street memos.
