Make no mistake...I think the media covers the wrong stuff most of the time. But, while this quake is "only" a 5...there is a reason to cover it immediately. For all we know a much larger quake could occur at any time, even before the evening news.

on CNN early this morning (yeah, it was shocking) where they were interviewing someone who felt the Chile earthquake may in fact be tied to the California quakes.

But I certainly have no expertise in this area. I live in the midwest. Ask me about tornadoes.
