Al-Qaida suspect given
to U.S., Pakistan says

Musharraf says Libyan
was handed over 'recently'

ISLAMABAD, Pakistan - Pakistan has handed over to the United States senior al-Qaida suspect Abu Farraj al-Libbi, who was wanted for two assassination attempts against President Gen. Pervez Musharraf, officials said Monday.

Musharraf’s spokesman, Maj. Gen. Shaukat Sultan, confirmed that the president told a newspaper during a visit to the United Arab Emirates that al-Libbi had been handed over recently, without specifying exactly when or where he was sent.

“The president has said that he (al-Libbi) has been handed over to U.S. authorities,” Sultan told The Associated Press.

Some officials have described al-Libbi as al-Qaida’s No. 3 leader, after Osama bin Laden and Egyptian surgeon Ayman al-Zawahri. However, he does not appear on the FBI list of the world’s most-wanted terrorists, and his exact role in al-Qaida is murky.

But wait!

However, Pakistan's evaluation of Libbi's significance has been challenged by some European intelligence experts.

French expert Jean-Charles Brisard told Britain's Sunday Times: "Al-Libbi is just a middle-level leader. Pakistan and US authorities have completely overestimated his role and importance.

"He was never more than a regional facilitator between al-Qaeda and local Pakistani Islamic groups."

Some believe US intelligence may have initially confused the two.

When asked about Libbi, an alleged former associate of Osama Bin Laden told the Sunday Times: "What I remember of him is he used to make the coffee and do the photocopying."

Now that we got UBL's coffee guy, he is hopeless! And who says that * does care about Bin Laden? </sarcasm>

4. Maybe a "caffeine withdrawal rage"
will have Osama running down from his mountain cave to give up to a Marine patrol for a cup of java. Brilliant plan Mr. pResident! Isn't this the third or fourth #3 guy? I'm losing track of these #3's.

5. If Osama's xerox machine is anywhere as confusing as the one at work
Al Qaida may have to go back to using carbon paper.

The next time al Qaeda's copier gets a paper jam, there won't be anybody to clear it because we busted their copier guy. I can just see Osama standing there with all the copier access doors open and crumpled paper and toner all over the place, hollering, "Who the hell around here knows how to fix this damn thing? And will somebody get off their dead ass and make some damn coffee??"
