The police should be allowed to use a branding iron on people.
Edited on Sun Jun-05-05 11:44 PM by LoZoccolo
I have been reflecting on the use of the taser by law enforcement officers to subdue difficult arrestees, and have concluded that the branding iron is a safer alternative.

It is better than using a nightstick to subdue someone, where there is a risk of injury to the officer and the arrestee; for this reason alone, its use is justified.

And then further consider that no one has died from being branded, whereas there are a few incidents of people dying from being shot with a taser.

The branding iron saves lives. Support the branding iron.

3. The branding iron was used in George Bush's college fraternity
so there is precedent

4. Furthermore, it will be easier to spot the dastardly criminal next time.
What will the brand be? A wavy U.S. flag? A "W"? The possibilities are endless.

I like the other DUer's reference in another thread to a taser as a "portable electric chair." Kind of says it all, doesn't it?

9. That's right. We'll be able to identify which ones do not get out of their
cars fast enough to suit the cops.

5. The brander needs to be branded first, so we'll know who he branded.

7. can't we just use itching powder or huge whips made of nettles?
we can then use the mouth pear to make them confess if you'd like. i'm sure gonzales can find precedent to justify it.

11. So you support cops taking huge risks at traffic stops
and us ending up with dead cops?

Can you say F - L - A - M - E - B - A - I - T?

I kne that you could.

12. No.

I'm saying that the branding iron is safer than the Taser. Nobody has died from the branding iron, but a few people have died from the Taser.

So you support lethal weapons masquerading as non-lethal ones?
