I got it now.
I watched as he came out of the dark swirling shadows. He was wearing a trench coat with the collar pulled up around his cheeks. The grey fedora’s brim had been pulled down over his eyes. A cigarette hung from his lips. When I tried to get a good look at his face, he tilted his head down to keep me from seeing him. “Deep Throat?”, I whispered.
He silently thrust an envelope in my outstretched hand, then turned and disappeared back into the secret world he had left for a few seconds. --- All right, now that I’ve had a little fun, I’ve been thinking about this all day. So put on your little tinfoil hats and suppose with me.
We had a president who was toppled from power by someone who knew what and where the evidence of his dirty tricks was and told a couple of reporters where they could find it. One of the conspirators doesn’t seem to think that he could have legally had this information.
Suppose for a moment that he is right. We know the FBI had a history of taping presidents when they think they are alone. Suppose they were still doing it when Nixon was president.
Bush’s staff were already adults and I’m sure can remember Nixon’s fate very well. Suppose the possibility of being spied upon by the FBI was one that they made plans to intercept and disrupt. Suppose Felt was one of several. Suppose several are still young enough to be working and given the example of the way Bush gutted the CIA…
I’m not sure we can hope for another Deep Throat. :tinfoilhat:
Okay, I've got it on now, blast away.
