Am I dreaming, or...
do 2004 presidential prospects not look GREAT for a Democratic candidate?

* incumbent's war-related quagmire is digging him into a hole deeper than the economy

* incumbent's deficit spending and cuts in services are pushing him off a cliff higher than the unemployment rate

* many potentials, but overall optimism that the party can unite

* strong, experienced field

* no significant third-party candidate (yet)

* issues such as gay marriage, gun control, and abortion will be more divisive to Republicans

am I?
