8. It doesn't take a majority of the people organized to change a country

It just takes a significant minority of very active, very loud citizens to change things around. The folks who live in the middle usually get the message eventually and will offer modest support. This is how roughly the Civil Rights Movement went. People only started reflecting upon themselves after they saw the dogs and the hoses being used on black people, but it never would have gotten to that point if that small minority of people who were totally committed to racial equality and the end of segregation and Jim Crow gave up because they happened to be few in number.

Remember that lesson well. It just takes one person to start a ripple and a significant minority to start a wave.
