So the news media are on record that the public has no right to know...
"Reese Schonfeld, Co-founder of CNN, Says 'The Public Does Not Have a Right to Know...'" about the desecrations of the Koran at Gitmo because of the riots that resulted in Afghanistan when the story was published.

Makes ya wonder what else it would be harmful for us to know...

For example:

We must not be told that the election was stolen because it would unedermine Bush's authority;

We must not find out that Busshco cooked the intelligence to get us into the war, because it would harm the stability of the nation if we were to go through an impeachment;

We must not find out 9-11 was MIHOP...

We must not find out what went on in Cheney's energy meetings

AND IT IS THE JOB OF THE PRESS TO MAKE SURE WE DON'T FIND OUT!

It's all out in the open now, folks. It's as bad as ever we might have dreamed or feared it would be.

2. Of course its the job of the press to cover it up....
But they also drop out so many clever hints, we might as well do their job for them. Broadcast to the new ALTERNATIVE media and wake up the whole america to move on these thugs.

It's not like the corporate media is going to do that.... :eyes:

6. A controlled mass media. Under some of the regimes, the mass media were under strict direct control and could be relied upon never to
stray from the party line. Other regimes exercised more subtle power to ensure media orthodoxy. Methods included the control of licensing
and access to resources, economic pressure, appeals to patriotism, and implied threats. The leaders of the mass media were often politically
compatible with the power elite. The result was usually success in keeping the general public unaware of the regimes’ excesses.

6. Don't forget, the thing is,
The riots were not because of the press printing the truth. The riots were happening because of the oppression being applied in that country. Even the leader has been quoted as saying the Newsweek article did not juice the riots.

Everyone has taken the WH spew as fact and that, alas, is the big mistake. What the WH said was wrong. The riots were NOT begun because of Newsweek.

And, yes, the press is, and always has been, afraid to print the real truth for fear of...????....

Imagine the press ever printing why we are really in the Middle East.

Imagine is all you can do, because they never have and will never print the real reasons.

Not even shy about it. Not the slightest notion that this isn't how it was, or should be.

Where, oh where, has my dear country gone?
Where, oh where can she be?
With her hopes so bright,
Her Ideals so high,
Oh Where, oh where can she be?

:cry:

Sorry. Feelin' maudlin...:blush:

8. The beginning of the end...
The day after 9/11, when the collective media made the conscious decision to portray Bush as a strong, courageous, caring leader when in fact he froze in panic, hid out in Air Force One, and was sleeping like a baby by 10:30pm.

Bush the War President is as phony as the toppling of Saddam's statue.

9. This is the reason I don't watch CNN anymore. I used to
watch it pretty much all day at one time along with CNBC, another cable news station I don't watch anymore. I don't buy a newspaper anymore or any weekly news magazines like Time or Newsweek. The reason is because they aren't reporting the news as they should. So since they are capitalists who believe the market will determine their success, then they should know that if they can't deliver the product, then no one needs to buy the package it comes in.
