Won't you? (Sure ain't gonna vote Republican.)

Bitch, bitch bitch ... Gripe all you want. They got you right where they want you. The Democratic Party is not interested in a "progressive" agenda. They have the liberal vote.

See the fools cheering today's events? These are the DLC monkeys that will net-in the "moderate" Republicans into the "big tent." At least that's what they're hoping. What confuses me is this : Isn't that what the Democratic Party has been attempting to do for the last 3 election cycles? Someone explain to me how it's going to work THIS time.

Anyone?

3. Not this Democrat. Not in 2006.
I've already informed my dem senator and dem rep who have voted with the Repugs too many times that their votes have cost them my vote. I'll be voting Green until the Democrats decide to stand for something other than protecting their place at the trough provided by corporate America.

4. Tired of the good cop, bad cop routine
The two party system is a sham. For all we know, a Democratic president might even be the preferred option for the elite, sort of like today's compromise - keep the masses happy in their illusion of checks and balances and the cyclic turnover of power.

The Democrats have three more years to pull stupid tricks like this. I'm not sure what kind of base aside from the DLC third-wavers they're going to have left by 2008 or even next year.

11. Don't fucking count on it.
I was a lot less disgusted with the dems when I voted for Nader in 2000, but I only did that because I thought Bush didn't have a chance in hell.

Now I'm beyond the point of really caring that much.

If America really wants the Fourth Reich, maybe they need to have if if they're ever going to f-ing wake up.

13. and at that point?
You might remember that the 3rd Reich was undone by an external enemy or enemies at very great cost to the German people. Without a viable external enemy, what hope is there? The more progressives talk about leaving the Democrats, the less incentive there is for the Democrats to do anything for them.

According to the AFL-CIO, Lieberman has a lifetime voting record of 123-24 in favor of working class issues. Snowe is 30-63, Chaffee 24-27, and McCain is 29-141. Coleman is 0-13 and No-Talent is 0-13. You really think Talent and Coleman are no different than Mondale or Carnahan? Scurrilous nonsense!

If your friends are not perfect friends, they are still better for you than your enemies. Do you know who the enemies are? Save some of your disgust for them.

16. And as a result, Germany is freer, fairer and more democratic than the US.
Sorry, but after 30 years of backsliding, I'm sick of it. Sure, a democrat devil is a biit better than a republican devil, but at the end of the day, they both are owned by the corporations, lock, stock and barrel, and they both sell us out at the drop of a hat.

And those voting records can be deceptive. For instance, Lie-berman voted against the Bankruptcy Bill, but voted FOR cloture.

30 years with ZERO progress in terms of wages and living standards for working people is a damn long time. The democrats have achieved nothing but slow down the juggernaut of right-wing assaults on the New Deal and Labor protections.

The American people are at the point where they thing a 40 hour work week just happened magically, or due to the kindness of our corporations. Maybe we need to let the GOP bring us back to the Gilded Age so that apolitical Americans can be reminded of why the New Deal and the Labor Movement came about in the first place.

15. Depends
I live in a state that is solidly dark blue. My vote will not matter since the democrat will win. So if there is a decent populist/progressive/green available I sometimes vote for them.

17. Nope, no more Dems for me, not until they stop taking corporate lucre
And learn how to fight again. Of course, that was my decision before this so-called compromise, what happened last night merely re-enforced that decision.

There is an interesting definition of insanity, that is one is insane if you keep doing the same thing over and over again, yet expect a different result every time. I think that the Dems and liberals in this country have been engaging in a collective form of insanity by constantly voting in these corporate controlled Dems to leadership positions, and actually expecting them to give a damn about the ordinary person. Well, I refuse to engage in that particular form of insanity anymore.

I will be voting for candidate who take no corporate cash from here on out. While I would vote for Kucinich, since he matches that criteria, I will mainly be voting Green, since their viewpoints match up with mine quite well, and they don't take any corporate cash. Laugh at me if you must, say that I'm throwing my vote away. But don't look back, the DLC and the Democrats keep shooting themselves in the foot, and people are getting tired of it. Major parties have gone away before, and they can go away again. High time for it to happen in my opinion.

18. Being knee-deep in political crap, what is the other viable alternative?
Edited on Tue May-24-05 12:29 PM by Just Me
A vote for a for sure losing third party is a vote assisting the extreme right-wing to maintain control.

Withholding a vote is a vote assisting the extreme right-wing to maintain control.

Practically speaking, what is a better alternative? If people want to throw their hands up in the air, that's their choice, a choice which also carries responsibility for whatever the consequences. I am not one of those folks.

22. At some point you begin to realize that change isn't going to
happen at the voting booth. So if the sheeple are happy-what can I do? I'd rather not nash my teeth. If the people are in the streets-I'm loooking forward to that. This "politics" stuff is a joke.

And I have no problem voting conscience-I give them a chance-I give Clinton four years and that was enough for me. I respect conscience voters-Kerry didn't get a chance-and he deserved it and I think he won it. If whatever Senator has let me down-I can leave that name blank or not vote at all. Who cares? IT's my conscience, my vote, my life. I won't be bullied into anything. I'm not that kind of Democrat. HA. Maybe if there are enough of us-they will catch a clue. But your probably right-we are doomed.

See ya in the streets.

23. Damn right I'm votin' Democratic!
Edited on Tue May-24-05 03:56 PM by ih8thegop
Democrats care about:

  • Our future
  • Our environment
  • Those who don't have much
  • My privacy
  • Small businesses
  • Workers

Republicans care about:

  • Their fat-cat donors
  • Oil, oil, oil

Do some Dems do what Repubs do? Ah, yes. Do we have the right to be disappointed when they do? Hell yes.

But will I still be voting for the Democrats? Abso-freaking-lutely.
