"Christian Defense Coalition" ticked off! Prayer vigil & presser planned!
Contact: Rev. Patrick Mahoney, director of the Christian Defense Coalition, 202-547-1735, 540-538-4741 cell

WASHINGTON, May 23 /Christian Wire Service/ -- Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, Director of the Christian Coalition, calls the compromise reached by the Senate to end filibusters a "betrayal of the democratic process and a failure of leadership."

Rev. Mahoney goes on to say, "With this compromise, the Senate has shown they are more interested in preserving their traditions and rules than addressing pressing issues such as judicial activism and allowing votes on federal judicial nominees. This deal will satisfy no one but Senate members who will pat themselves on the back for a job well done."

"It is absolute arrogance for members of the Senate to say they have averted a 'crisis' with this agreement. A crisis is when a tsunami wipes out an entire village and hundreds of thousands are left homeless. Or, when two planes crash into the Twin Towers and thousands are killed. Only a group of arrogant self-important politicians will call a rule change in the Senate ending filibusters on judicial nominees a 'crisis.'"

"Finally, we still have no promise there will be no filibusters on other federal judicial nominees or potential nominees to the Supreme Court."

Rev. Mahoney will be speaking at a news conference and prayer vigil on Tuesday, May 24, at 10:00 A.M. in front of the United States Supreme Court.

1. As I said before...
Success is best measured by the reaction of the other side.

In your face, Mahoney!

3. "more interested in preserving their traditions and rules"
How does that jive with calling it "the constitutional option", eh?

4. All the Bible-humpers are crawling out from the woodwork.
My word, you would think the Dems and Repubs who arranged the compromise had just declared God dead and Jesus a non-deity or something.

Get a grip, you fundies. You do not own this country or this government.

What a bunch of whiners. They are really showing their true colors now.

6. The more I see their reaction the more I wonder why we're complaining?
Looks to me like we came out ahead here!

8. Boy, they sure hate compromise, don't they?
Total domination is what they want.

Too bad they can't have it. :nopity:
