GOP leader says Dems trying to assassinate judges,(was this for real)
*question.....was this taken out of the offical transcript?******* if so why..it shows the people what an asshole frisk really is....

Sen. Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) described Democratic efforts opposing some of President Bush’s judicial nominees as “leadership-led use of Cloture vote to kill, to defeat, to assassinate these nominees.”
snip

Durbin remarked, "When words are expressed during the court of the debate that those of us who oppose these nominees are setting out to 'kill, to defeat or to assassinate these nominees, those words should be taken from this record. Those words go too far."

The senators' comments follow. The transcripts are not yet believed to be published online.

###

MR. FRIST (10:04 AM): MR. PRESIDENT, THE -- IN RESPONSE, THE PAEZ NOMINATION -- WE'LL COME BACK AND DISCUSS IT FURTHER, AND ACTUALLY I'D LIKE TO COME BACK TO THE FLOOR AND DISCUSS IT, AND IT REALLY BRINGS TO I BELIEVE A POINT WHAT IS -- IS THE ISSUE. AND THE ISSUE IS THAT WE HAVE LEADERSHIP-LED PARTISAN FILIBUSTERS THAT HAVE OBSTRUCTED NOT ONE NOMINEE BUT TWO, THREE, FOUR, FIVE, SIX, SEVEN, EIGHT, NINE, TEN IN A ROUTINE WAY. THE ISSUE IS NOT CLOTURE VOTES PER SE. IT'S THE PARTISAN LEADERSHIP-LED USE OF CLOTURE VOTE TO KILL, TO DEFEAT, TO ASSASSINATE THESE NOMINEES. (Senator Bill Frist, 5/18/05, Senate Floor)

2. Especially since it's his own party's rhetoric that is getting judges'
families killed and making even Repub judges targets when they interpret law ala the entire Schiavo fiasco.

3. Does george bush* masturbate horses?
I'm assuming Bluedog with all the Fristians have done that your post was really a rhetorical question, but I thought I'd answer anyway just to make sure.

In response to Schumer's question to Frist about his vote to filibuster Judge Paez, Frist insinuated Democrats want to kill judges, assassinate them in fact.

5. When someone can no longer bear to look at themselves in
the mirror due to their own guilt, they look for someone else to blame it on.

I consider this clear evidence of Frist's personal lack of character, ethics, and morals.

6. That is exactly what Frist said in his opening
remarks on the Senate Floor. This happened after Durbin just returned from a Committee meeting with Judge Joan Lakoff, whose husband and mother were recently murdered in Illinois. Judge Lakoff (sp) had asked the Committee to ask the Congress and others to stop the talk about judges (she quoted Pat Robertson saying they were worse the bearded terrorists).

Durbin was nice enough to suggest that someone else had written those words for Frist.

7. Yep, Frist was babbling
Durbin nailed Frist perfectly with Frist's attempts to filibuster Clinton's nominee in 1999, and Frist was reduced to babbling about the assassination of nominees, as you can read from that accurate transcript.

Oddly enough, no one at the networks or on the cable shows or on the Radical Right shoutathons or in Congress or at the White House seemed too concerned about Frist's intemperate remarks. Almost makes you think that their outrage is sort of, you know, manufactured or something, on other topics.

8. and then Santorum said Democrats are like Hitler
What I want to know is WERE IS THE OUTRAGE BY DEMOCRATIC SENATORS ABOUT THESE FASCIST PIGS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

http://atrios.blogspot.com/

"MEAN, IMAGINE, THE RULE HAS BEEN IN PLACE FOR 214 YEARS THAT THIS IS THE WAY WE CONFIRM JUDGES. BROKEN BY THE OTHER SIDE TWO YEARS AGO, AND THE AUDACITY OF SOME MEMBERS TO STAND UP AND SAY, HOW DARE YOU BREAK THIS RULE. IT'S THE EQUIVALENT OF ADOLF HITLER IN 1942 "I'M IN PARIS. HOW DARE YOU INVADE ME. HOW DARE YOU BOMB MY CITY? IT'S MINE." THIS IS NO MORE THE RULE OF THE SENATE THAN IT WAS THE RULE OF THE SENATE BEFORE NOT TO FILIBUSTER. IT WAS AN UNDERSTANDING AND AGREEMENT, AND IT HAS BEEN ABUSED. IN A SENSE, WHAT WE SEE HERE ON THE FLOOR OF THE UNITED STATES"

10. Classic case of conservative projection
It always scares me when I hear cons on a tirade, because over the years I've noticed that sin-projection is more or less an identifying trait of the wingnut: when a Republican makes an accusation that defies all common sense (like accusing Galloway of being in bed with Saddam, or Gore of trying to 'steal' the election), chances are they're describing their own acts or motivations. (This reached the height of insanity during the Lott-Thurmond debacle, when GOPundits were falling over themselves to rail about Democratic racism ... inevitably tracing to the Democrats who'd left the party to join the Republicans. Like Strom Thurmond.)

It's not a coincidence that this comes on the heels of various "Wait, did they just advocate violence against judges?" moments from the right wing; Frist isn't just engaging in disgraceful hyperbole here, but rather for a moment letting slip his self-control and sinking into wishful thinking.
