Dubya is a strong, intimidating presence.....
to the Republicans in the House and Senate. Otherwise, they would tell him to take his radical ideas and shove them where the sun doesn't shine. But they are afraid. They are intimidated by their "strong" leader. They are cowering in the corners, hiding from this asshole. This lying, weakling excuse for a president has intimidated the executive branch of this government. I thought the Republicans were the "Daddy" Party. They seem like the Pussy Party to me.

1. That's the only conclusion that can be drawn
Well, not the only one. But it seems the Republican "leadership" in the legislative is in total thrall to the executive. Maybe we should call Haman Frist Mr. Slave for a while.

Jeethz Chrise!

RIGHT, John?

9. Yeah, you're right, he plays both sides of the board: above and below.
And then there's that anthrax attack which targetted just enough Senators to turn control of the Senate back to Rove's party...

Not claiming Rove was behind it, but I'll bet he enjoys that no one really knows for sure who did it...

I'm using a lot of ...s today...

15. I don't doubt that Rove knows who in the BFEE headed the anthrax op.
There isn't that much separation of the players when it comes to the BFEE.

3. Agreed. The Party of Wimps and Whiners
I came to the same conclusion recently. They are all afraid. For all of their bloviating and hyperbolic ranting, it boils down to being afraid of stepping off the reservation. There really is no other explanation for it.

10. He brought them the power they never had, and that's all they ever wanted
It's all about total control. Forget that the margin is shockingly thin in the House and the electorate. To them, they own everything, and this cocksure little nobody has them in awe for his brazen assault on all that's good and true. The subjugation of the weak and the buttressing of the rich and powerful is their life's work, but they could never do it so frontally, and for this they love this man. They're in love with him for things like taking overtime away from people making over $22.5K a year. They cream their jeans for someone who dismisses every whiff of dispute to go after Social Security. It's an erotic love of the single-minded leader, and it's a sadistic, prurient thrill. His, Cheney's and Rove's retaliation are certainly on their minds, but their real motivation is woozy admiration.

There's a belief of inevitability to the sweep to the right, too, and none of them wants to have been any impediment.

12. That fear/admiration see-saw is apparently quite compelling -
there's enough going on w/current Rethug politics to keep armchair psychologist busy for the next 300 years. And that "shockingly thin margin" is why they're so busy steam-rolling our country, and distorting politics. They KNOW they're not the majority, not even close.

16. as Frank Zappa would have said: sho' nuff yes it's true

That's a really good point. Because of the closeness of the divide, they have to keep the echo chamber reverberating.

It's madness. It's an odd group of fear-driven haters who need to quash anything that upsets their tenuous worldview. The drive to ward off any dissent is critical: they're nowhere near a majority, yet they need to seal up the system and destroy all others.

The shrillness of their tactics proves their soul-searing fear of the unknown.

As a fan of history, it doesn't look good for us...

14. Yeah...that's why the Viet Cong feared him like no other American soldier.
AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA................

Bush was too AFRAID of landing his jet, so he let himself get grounded rather than to finish his requirements.

He's also AFRAID of horses.

He's also so AFRAID of debate that they only allow those who worship him to get close enough to ask him a question.

What the others FEAR is the way Bush's team of handlers control the corporate media and how his mob of BFEE thugs control who gets disappeared, accidented, or suicided.
