My latest, "favoritist" Eisenhower quote
Was sent this today by my best friend. I had never heard it before. Was there really a time when the GOP was righteous, not self-righteous?

"Should any political party attempt to abolish social security, unemployment insurance, and eliminate labor laws and farm programs, you would not hear of that party again in our political history. There is a tiny splinter group, of course, that believes that you can do these things. Among them are a few Texas oil millionaires, and an occasional politician or businessman from other areas. Their number is negligible and they are stupid."

-President Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1952

1. They are still stupid
but their numbers are no longer negligible.

2. Are there any Repubs of this caliber left?
If there are, it's time for them to stand up and take their party back.
Nixon, let alone Eisenhower, would now be too liberal to be elected by their own party.
It scares me when I start lamenting for the good ol' Nixon days.
