I walked into fundie hell tonight
Had a school event. Decided to take the kids to Cici's for pizza afterward.
Didn't really notice anything different until I had sat down and started eating. The last time I was in there, it had a local flavor--football jerseys--local sports figures, different schools represented, etc.
But now, There was religious music playing. There were Christian posters all over the walls. There was a fucking prayer request box. The TV was tuned to Faux news. There were a minimum of 5 crucifixes on the walls.
There was a receptacle and a sign for free bibles if you don't have one.
WTF is up with this?
I felt like I ended up in church when I just went to eat a slice of pizza.
I let the manager on duty know of my displeasure with it when I left.
I doubt it will do any good.:(

They are owned by fundies. They are closed on Sunday. I was in their once and the people in the booth next to me broke out into prayer. :scared:

The owner is a true Christian, he closes all his stores on Sunday because it is a day of worship...

He talks with his money or lost of money....

23. Chick Fil A is alright by me. They keep the Sabbath Holy

I think the Sabbath off is a good idea. Notice that the fake Christians who love mammon more than God talk about legislating morality for individuals like on abortion and contraception, but the idea of making business lose money by observing the sabbath is never mentioned.

Think if everyone had Sunday off. People might actually get to know their neighbors that work difft schedules. The family could set down for a meal.

36. I agree, and I'll take it one step further....
In fairness to all Muslims, Jews, and Christians, I propose permanent three day weekends for all. And if any other religious traditions have a Sabbath day other than Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, we'll figure something out.

But that would mean that american workers would have to earn as much in 4 days as they do now in 5. ;(

Really bad food and a bunch of noisy teenagers. Other than that, nothing objectionable (and it was a damn cheap dinner).

I suspect this is probably an individual franchise thing.

ETA: The Cici's I went to is close to the WV/PA border in Southwestern PA.

34. Depends on the company.
Is the restaraunt corporate owned, or is it a franchise? And if it's a franchise, do they have a contract with the corporation to conform to a certain appearance?

If this particular CiCi's is a franchise operation and they don't have a certain template for the appearance of the facility, then there's probably not much the company could do. Unless the franchise starts losing money, of course. Then they won't need an excuse.

The one we go to here is pretty nice. The restaurant has local school jersey's up of sport teams and whenever someone comes in the workers behind the bar say hello to you and goodbye when you leave and they're really good about cleaning up the place and keeping it really nice and refilling the soda machine with ice and drink and they even special order pizza if you just want one kind or something. They even have it to go and dilevery which is pretty nice. The management is really nice and very coporative where I go to CiCi's. On the tv's they usually have it on ESPN or Cartoon Network and have a seperate little room for game's.

I had this happen when walking into a townhall bar, it felt like the whole place had become a church.

It's absolutely frightening, they want to kill everything that gets in their way and absolutely hate Islam like it was some kind of cancerous virus. I've never seen people like this before. It makes me wonder if this country is even safe at all.

There are required standards for individual franchisees and the person who owns this one might be violating his contractual obligations.

44. Update
I telephoned the main office of Cici's today. I was told that this particular store was a franchise.
However, this type of atmosphere was not in fitting with their corporate image that they wish to portray and said they would have the district manager call me and also talk to the franchise owner.
The argument that I laid out was that I am a Christian, however, I do not want someone else's variation of my religion shoved down my throat.
I also pointed out that this type of atmosphere would be offensive to persons of Jewish or Muslim faiths--of which we have in our area.
I suggested that if they choose to allow this type of store remain in their chain, they might want to post a warning on the door that only Fundamental Christians are welcome because they would most certainly be the only ones completely comfortable in this atmosphere.
I also pointed out that if I had noticed the atmosphere before I paid my $30 for my family to eat, I certainly would have walked out and took my money elsewhere.
I pointed out that if I want to attend church, that I have a church home and certainly don't need to feel like I am attending church when want to eat a slice of pizza.
Anyway--will keep you updated if anything further happens.

I know. It is TOTALLY nuts in our corner of the world sometimes.
To me, incidents like these, feel like the raping of my religion.
This is a complete violation of the teachings of Jesus.
Religion is a sacred tenet and intensely private. I am soooo tired of it being shoved in my face everywhere I turn. I am almost to the point of gagging when one of the idiots call themselves a Christian.
It is one of the things that angers me to no end.
