wtf? On the Coral Ridge Hour: God Hates Welfare and Socialism!
These fundie freaks are really starting to burn my ass. I was flipping channels and found this so called minister and decided to see how much politics he could put into a sermon. It was disgusting! It sounded like it was written by Grover Norquist if he was and Evangelical. Some Highlights:

1. When people have all of their needs served they want to die. That is why Sweden, the biggest Socialist country, has the highest suicide rate of any other country.

2. When "public charities" get funds it takes away from the "private charities" and the belief in God.

3. God said:"If a man will not work, he shall not eat."!!!

And oh so much more!

WTF? I can't believe this shit is broadcast on TV!!!!!!

:banghead: :banghead:

THIS WEEK'S BROADCAST

The Christian View Of Economics
Dr. D. James Kennedy Sun - 05/15
Socialism is threatening America's economy. What is the danger? What is the answer? To find out, join Dr. Kennedy this week for The Coral Ridge Hour.

Feature: Leading For Generations
If we are truly to reclaim America for Christ, we must apply God's Word to every area of life. Dr. Gary Cass, Executive Director of the Center For Reclaiming America, challenges us with a message he delivered at the 2005 Reclaiming America For Christ Conference in Fort Lauderdale.

1. "If we are truly to reclaim America for Christ"
Maybe they should read his words and try to follow them.

Of course then, Dr. Kennedy wouldn't be a multi-millionaire.

20. My Favorite Mindmeld...
Whenever I get into a religious "debate", I use the ultimate show-stopper..."Prove It". Of course I'll get the "well, the bible says this and god said that...", and I'll say again..."Prove It". Show me a postcard that's really from the edge, show me an original of the 10 commandments that's Carbon 14 dated to Mount Sinai...this can be applied to almost anything about religion and when someone attempts to invoke it as part of a rational discussion.

If someone wants to interject their beliefs and faith...fine. I view it strictly as that...it's what Blogbear says, not god or Blogbear's god (not yours...just an example). And it's purely opinion...not fact, not "how this country was founded" or even being "moral". It's strictly personal belief and nothing more.

When some charlatan tries to tell me what god is saying, I ask WTF is he? What made him so special to get this special hotline. Or is it he's just full of shit and found a great scam to play god? It's so sad so many people are scared and kept ignorant...the way these assholes keep themselves rich and powerful. I used to feel sorry for those who fell under this spell...in recent years most these people are in a state of absolute denial and I have no pity nor tolerance.

6. i think this CORAL RIDGE CHURCH is located on Federal HWY.
in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. between COMMERCIAL BLVD. AND McNAB ROAD.

I am not sure if his denomination is PRESBYTERIAN ... if it is, he puts all Presbyterians to shame.

The sort of Presbyterians I knew are the ones whose theological thinking were closer to the Presbyterian thought expressed in the movie A MAN CALLED PETER which, I believe, is the real life story of
(but I can't tell you the name of the man whose life the picture is made).

Anyhow, the values expressed there, which were expressed there were:

Feed the Hungry. Clothe the Poor. Console the downtrodden.

Kennedy's flock are all ugh, what people have sometimes called, nouveau rich with all of their hypocrisies etc...

and perhaps james kennedy ought to be reminded of Jesus' own words:
BE WARE OF FALSE PROPHETS...Kennedy appears to be one of them.

of economics- "And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through they eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom of God".

Funny how many fundies seem to become "relativists" when it comes to that verse.

11. Even more relevant are the verses right before that.
Don't have the exact quote in front of me, but the context here is that a rich man asked Jesus "Lord, what must I do to be saved?"

Jesus told him "Sell all your posessions, and give the money to the poor".

Or in other words, the exact opposite of what the dominionists-fascists preach.

Jesus preached a sort of 'faith based socialism'.
Anyone who says similar things today is immediately attacked by the RWingers. What would Jesus say in return? 'Go from me, I know you not. I was hungry and you didn't feed me.'

9. It would seem
That Dr. Kennedy only used the passage he wanted without going to the next one.

II Thessalonians 3:10
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if you would not work, neither should he eat.

Now to continue what Paul was saying we go to the next verse.

II Thessalonians 3:11-12
11)For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all but are busybodies. 12)Now them that are such we
command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they
work, and eat their own bread.

It's very important to read the verses that either precede or follow
a particular verse, but "men of God" like Dr. Kennedy prefer to only
point out a particular verse. They do this because they know that the
brain dead kool-aid drinking sheep who are their parishoners will never look beyond what they are told.

It looks like all the trials that Martin Luther went through was for
nothing after all.

10. New Hymn! Jesus Was A Capitalist
Jesus Was A Capitalist,
He loved his bags of gold,
For only 20 dinar,
he'd turn you young from old.

He loved to see them little plates
get passed accross the aisle
tithing got him happy
and always brought a smile.

The poor is poor because they's lazy
It's the way they wanna be,
That's why he wants our money
Oh, Lordy can't you see?

It's the rich that makes the money
It's the rich that really know
What's best for you and me my freind
And makes our country grow.

And if you really stop and think
that giving to the poor
is something good to do today
he'll smack you to the floor.

Cause Jesus was a capitalist
He wants you to support
Me and mine and big business
And never to abort.

Oh, I give up.

13. Reminds me of a Jello Biafra song
Jesus was a terrorist
Enemy of the state
That's what the Romans labeled him
So he was put to death

He died for his beliefs
What's changed today?

Today bible-thumping cannibals
Reap money from his name
Buy cable networks & power
With old ladies' checks

If Jesus saw Pat Robertson
What do you think he'd say?

Tax-free they re-write our laws
And sick 'em on you
Women don't control their bodies
TV preachers do

Censor everything from bathing suits
To science books
From the schoolroom to the bedroom
They want our thoughts - or else

They treat us like the Romans
Used to treat the Christians
Even some churchgoing folks are scared

Modern catacombs of fear
Built with money, power and threats
Rock'n'roll is labeled porn
Sell a record, you're under arrest

Instead of fighting AIDS
They try to stop us having sex
They brag that they won't quit
Til they take dominion over our lives

Is freedom of speech such a terrorist act
Is spiritual peace such a satanic threat
Believe what you want
But we'll fight to keep
Our heads from being cemented in your sand.

23. Jesus was a Capricorn... By Kris Kristofferson
Jesus was a Capricorn, he ate organic foods.
He believed in love and peace and never wore no shoes.
Long hair, beard and sandals and a funky bunch of friends.
Reckon they'd just nail him up if He come down again.

'Cos everybody's got to have somebody to look down on.
Who they can feel better than at anytime they please.
Someone doin' somethin' dirty, decent folks can frown on.
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me.

Get back, John!

Egg Head's cousin Red Neck's cussin' hippies for their hair.
Others laugh at straights who laugh at freaks who laugh at squares.
Some folks hate the whites who hate the blacks who hate the clan.
Most of us hate anything that we don't understand.

'Cos everybody's got to have somebody to look down on.
Who they can feel better than at anytime they please.
Someone doin' somethin' dirty, decent folks can frown on.
If you can't find nobody else, then help yourself to me.

Help yourself, brother.
Help yourself, Gentlemen.
Help yourself Reverend.

22. Yes, Matthew Chapter 5 says it best...
http://www.godrules.net/library/kjv/kjvmat5.htm

5:1 And seeing the multitudes, he went up into a mountain: and when he was set, his disciples came unto him:

5:2 And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,

5:3 Blessed the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

5:4 Blessed they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.

5:5 Blessed the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.

5:6 Blessed they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.

5:7 Blessed the merciful: for they shall obtain mercy.

5:8 Blessed the pure in heart: for they shall see God.

5:9 Blessed the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God.

5:10 Blessed they which are persecuted for righteousness' sake: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

5:11 Blessed are ye, when shall revile you, and persecute , and shall say all manner of evil against you falsely, for my sake.

5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great your reward in heaven: for so persecuted they the prophets which were before you.

5:13 Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.

5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

5:17 Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

5:18 For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

5:19 Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach , the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

5:20 For I say unto you, That except your righteousness shall exceed of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no case enter into the kingdom of heaven.

5:21 Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

that has the word "coral" in several different names. A nearby town is Coralville, the mall is 'Coral Ridge,' a bowling alley is Coral Lanes and there is a fruitstand called Coral Market.

I guess as soon as I saw 'Coral Ridge' on the television, I just make the assumption that it was from that area. I never stayed on the channel long enough to watch. LOL!!

When it comes to network religious shows, the one that often makes me laugh is "Hour of Power" (power...power...power...)

Edited on Sun May-15-05 10:23 AM by Toots

5. The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful 6. For the vile person (aka GOP) will speak villany, and his heart will work iniquity, to practise hypocrisy, and to utter error against the LORD, to make empty the soul of the hungry, and he will cause the drink of the thirsty to fail. 7 The instruments also of the churl (aka GOP) are evil: he deviseth wicked devices to destroy the poor with lying words, even when the needy speaketh right. 8 But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.

I added the (aka GOP) in parenthesis but the rest is authentic

32. All of these great posts made me think...
what if their blatant hypocrisy makes more and more of us students of the gospel/Jesus' teachings so that we can expose them? And I've always thought that many of us on DU are actually trying to live these things, we just were not interested in institutional religion for other reasons. (For me, it's always been the hypocrisy that led me away from church. And I don't mean this as a blanket statement against those who go to church at all. I know a lot of great people who go to church and are true Christians.) But it seems obvious, the public, political face of Christianity has been preempted by the Neo-Con "compassionate" conservatives.

But now, if "Christianity" is going to be shoved down our throats, we may be forced to embrace true Christianity to force the issue and run the moneychangers out of the temple as it were. By that I don't mean necessarily going to church, but becoming more conversant with the scriptures that some of you have written above.

Now, for the show-stopper, what if there REALLY IS a Rapture and the "wrong" people get taken? Wouldn't you love to watch their heads explode when those "damn, US-hatin' commie Democrat dirtbags" get raptured? Bwahahahahahahaha...I love it.
