Seriously Life Enhancing Made In USA Costco Product!!
My hub and I usually decide on one anniversary gift for both of us...for anniversary #19 (gasp, I know how old does that make me feel?) I wanted to get new mattress & box springs as ours kind of worse for the wear from kids, dogs etc.

Since they were so expensive I settled instead on one of those Nova "memory foam" mattress top things...the Queen size was $110 at Costco and to be honest it was kind of a bitch to set up and put the cover on and stuff, but WOW! We both experienced vacation-like sleep quality, what a difference. I hadn't realized that my old mattress was affecting my sleep like that.

My kids are begging me to get them for their beds. My 11 year old is actually in there taking a NAP, THAT NEVER HAPPENS....THIS THING IS A HIT!

The only thing I'm dreading is having to get up at 5:30 on Monday, this thing is going to make it much much harder.

Hey on the box it says it's available at Costco.com for those of you who live in WallyWorld Land...I think it's slightly more expensive to shop the website if you aren't a member but probably still cheaper than normal retail. Sleep tight DUers and remember: BUY BLUE!

2. Thanks!
I've been thinking about buying one of those things. I stretched out on one of the memory foam mattresses at a store recently - NICE!!! But the full mattress set is over $1000, which is pretty pricey. Nice to hear that the memory foam mattress pad is also a good thing. I may just have to buy one. TJ Maxx had some in stock too, and I think that they were about the same price.

You gotta love the ads for the memory foam mattresses that come on at 3 in the morning!!!

6. Tell us about the set up -- is there a cover that encases the

memory foam and the mattress, holding the memory foam in place? Or what?

8. You Have To Let It Expand/Breathe for 24-72 Hours...
This was a bitch! I ended up taking the sleeper sofa out in the guest room & shutting the door because if I left it on the floor, the cat would destroy it.

Kind of a bummer as I didn't open it til our anniversary & was gonna set it up while my hub was a work. Oh well! So ended up unpacking it Wed, setting up Friday.

It comes in a box sort of vaccum packed. You cut the outside plastic sleeve off and the it expands many times the orig packaged size. They tell you not to be concerned about the factory-esque smell but I was concerned!! The smell does totally go away though and my extremely green-living hemp-wearing friend says she did some research on the material and doesn't think it's harmful. She loves hers too!

THEN you have to put this cotton cover on the thing, ugh, that is awkward. Needs two people. I put a mattress pad over the covered foam which is optional, but in our case it is only a matter of time before a cup of coffee or something gets spilled on it -- the foam part is not really washable, only the cover.

My sheets always fit kind of loose -- because my old mattress was kind of deflated, so I did not have problems with the bottom sheet fitting over the foam & mattress pad. My fried did have to buy some new sheets though, they make them now for the thicker mattresses.

13. Thanks for the details! I've got to check out Costco.com --

we are many miles from a Costco store. Wonder if you can get the Vidalia Vinaigrette online, too? Both the vinaigrette and the memory foam sound like definite must-haves. ;-)

7. Here's my complaint about Memory Foam mattresses
Edited on Sat May-14-05 04:03 PM by The empressof all
They spoil you for anything else. We've had ours now for about a year and it is the absolutely best thing in the world.

The trouble comes when you travel. I can't sleep in anything else now. Regular hotel mattresses now hurt my back. I recently came back from a trip and was never so happy to get home to my own bed.

9. I thought you were talking...
... about the Vidalia Onion vinagrette salad dressing. Better than teen-age sex!

I've served Dungeness crab salad with that dressing and people had multiple orgasms.

11. We bought one of those a couple of years ago at Costco
after we started waking up on our year-old mattress feeling like we had been pummelled for the entire night. Best purchase we've made. Those pads are really comfortable.

14. Sounds good, but is this that kind of foam that lets off a stinky gas?
I bought a special foam pillow of some kind and it outgassed something awful and gave us both headaches. Does this mattress do that?
