I "GET" it! I'm weird because I care about the rest of us.
*cough* I was raised to give a damn about,...others, my fellow man or woman, my family, my friends, my country,...other human beings.

I am weird because I am not obsessed with having,...getting,...having,....having a LOT of,...STUFF,...like clothes and trinkets and cell phones and big homes and tanks-R-us autos and full-time cosmetic consumption.

I "GET" it. I am weird because,....I care about something greater than, something greater than "Just Me".

How strange to be weird,...in that way.

2. I've been told by
my daughter's former MIL that she'd never met anyone like my daughter..someone who cares about other people. I looked at her dumb founded and said..aren't people supposed to care about other people?

Guess I raised my kids wrong in their eyes..but I'm glad we're weird! :toast: to weirdness!

6. The christian right and their corporate shills are largely to blame
Members of fundie churches seem to have this freakish need to tell you over and over again how much they love their family, especially their children, to the point of being in some contest to see who loves their children more.

Everytime I hear people talk this way, I think of three things:
1) Do you think there are a bunch of others that don't love their children?
2) Aren't other peoples children (and other peoples relatives) just as important?
3) As Jesus said (new international version), "Big whoop", or
"30Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back. 31Do to others as you would have them do to you.
32"If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' love those who love them. 33And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' do that. 34And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even 'sinners' lend to 'sinners,' expecting to be repaid in full. 35But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. 36Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful."

As I posted on another board, this passage ain't on the christian rights top ten list.

8. If that's weird, then there's not enough of us!
I'm the same way. I'll give any person a second chance, I'll give that aggressive driver the benefit of doubt, I'll believe that I can do something when no one else wants to try...........my hub says I'm naive...........but I'm still with him after 29 years and it ain't been no piece of cake!!

Weird? Nah! Just thoughtful. Keep it up and continue to be "Just Me"

9. you must be my long lost twin
it's so nice to finally find you! lol

Even as a small child, I didn't understand picking on the "nerd" in class and I didn't understand not sharing. I couldn't care less about material possessions and I really don't understand people who need so much crap to make them happy.

My parents made me feel like I was normal and that everyone was like this. I thought the bullies at school were the "weird" kids, but I've grown up and faced the harsh realization that I'm the weird one, not them.

My personal philosophy is that we all have our own circle of compassion. It's progressive in nature because those who have too little, like those in the world who can't even provide the necessities of life, their circle of compassion is small for the sake of their own survival. The more money/resources you have, and the more you are able to help other humans, then the bigger your circle of compassion should be. Many Americans have the ability to help so many people in this world. I know many people who can easily have large circles but don't. This kills me. A bigger circle should be viewed as an honor, not a burden.

But I'm weird so what do I know.

10. yes--it means you have a social conscious!
something the republicans seem to be in short supply of, something that seems to be in the heart of the majority of democrats. social consciousness is the key issue.

we should make it a campaign slogan!

11. what freepers don't understand is that we're all brothers and sisters . .
in the only race that matters, the human race . . . as such, we are bound to care for and love one another -- even when it's not so easy to do . . .

those who divide humanity into meaningless subdivisions and value one over the others have no understanding of reality . . .

and those who invoke the name of Jesus while doing so have no concept of what the carpenter actually taught . . . were he to return today, you can be assured that he'd be hanging with "shepherds and street people, hookers and bums" . . .

"and the message is clear
if you've got ears to hear
that forgiveness is given
for your guilt and your fear"

14.  It's not easy to be me.
Yes I care too. Fortunately I had parents that taught me right from wrong, too look out for other people, and too respect other peoples value and courage and treat everyone fairly honestly and decently.
And I know that my god, the god I choose to worship, wants me to love everyone regardless of thier orientation stance on reproductive issues and even party affliation. Hmmm I guess all those Superman comics I read as a kid give me a pretty naive out look on things. :)
Maybe i should start a religion and call it the Kryptonians.

17. Are you my long lost sibling?
I could have written that word for word. The greedy, selfish "me me me" attitude of nearly everyone I know makes me sick. I told my boss about a few of the things I've been doing (sending care packages to the troops every month and our raising money for Andy). He said he couldn't imagine doing all that. I just told him, "Hey, why do you think I don't have a house yet? I keep giving all my money away." He probably thinks I'm nuts, but I don't care.

Peace,
Bella
