"Everything good in this country came from Liberals"
Edited on Sat May-07-05 03:00 PM by Jade Fox
This is a quote from the great Lauren Bacall being interviewed by Larry
King.

http://corrente.blogspot.com/2005/05/no-contest.html

We should have attitudes like this one a lot more. Liberals are responsible
for art, music, philosophy, invention, technology, literature, equality,
justice and progress! What have followers of the Neocons and the
Religious Right ever done that made the world a better place?

Every day people in this country benefit from things brought to them
courtesy of liberals. Let's stop letting them make us apologize (if only
by our silence) for ourselves.

2. And she's 100% right-on.
Conservatives sponge off the hard work of Liberals for their security and livelihood.

3. Yeah, then they talk like the world would be better off without us....
Yeah, right! Conservatives would still be living in caves if some Liberal
had not invented houses!

14. Certainly it is a black and white statement...
so I'll amend it: 99% of what's good about this country came from Liberals!

Seriously: What have conservatives done to make the world a better
place? I'm open to being challenges on this.

16. Nah, don't amend it. Shout it from the rooftops.
:hi:

Progress occurs despite political and religious fundamentalists, not because of them.

The US, in its foundations, is a liberal country. The language used when one wants to appeal to the electorate is liberal language.

12. Not True if you like trash TV
That's the one contibution to "culture" which comes from conservatives. Beyond that they don't have much to offer.

It's time to take our legacy back.

"... if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

- John F. Kennedy, September 14, 1960

18. Liberals seek understanding and a better world. Whereas, conservatives,..
,...treat everything as stuck in stone with no possibility of change. One embraces hope, the other resignation.

The neoCONs are just arrogant self-serving power-brokers.

20. Did you see it too? I loved that interview!
I posted this morning at http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x3613461 about her and ole King.

Mind you, I don't watch CNN but caught it by sheer luck channel flipping and there she was. She is an inspiration to us all. At the link above, you'll read part of the transcripts where she adamently reclaims she's a proud Liberal Democrat - a Anti-Republican. She and Bogie were Civil Rights marchers early on.

Admire her... ;)
