I'm hearing more bitching from repukes about how they can't seem to get anything done in government. This is from regular everyday people, people in the media, and elected repukes.

WTF is THAT about?

I want to say to all of them: WHO IS STOPPING YOU?????

Seriously, WHO?

I read two letters to the editor yesterday (in the same paper) in which republicans were whining about how their party just can't get ANYTHING done because of the evil, evil Democrats.

Of course, they failed to say just exactly HOW a minority party without control of two branches of government and with very little control of a third could POSSIBLY be stopping them from doing anything!

You know who I think their ACTUAL enemy is?

The Constitution of the United States.

The Democrat stuff is just obfuscation and misdirection. We aren't stopping them from doing crap. We can't. And they know it.

It's the Constitution they are pissed off at. It's stopping them. Make no mistake--THAT is their real enemy.

1. You're exactly right.
The Republicans have morphed into the Anti-Constitution Party.

3. As much as I hate to say this
(because I hate subscribing to this kind of thinking), I was reading some article written by a neocon and suddenly I got chills all over and thought "Oh my GOD, THEY are the ones who hate America."

Now the reason I say I hate thinking that way is that myself and my party have been accused by them of being anti-American, hating America, etc.

But the more I watch them, the more I listen to them, the more I think that's a classic case of projection. And that's a horrible conclusion to make, but I don't know what else to conclude about a group of people who seem intent on tearing down every safeguard put into place in our government.

9. They DO hate America
That's why they are trying to change it into the hyper-capitalist theocracy of their wet dreams. Every time I hear one of them talk about 'Murrikka it's obvious that what they are talking about and this country are light-years apart.

6. Well, we can start by saying it, loud and clear.
It's not US, it's the Constitution they're pissed at. Mention it to everyone you know. Even repukes.

They CANNOT deny that it's not us. If they try to say it is us (like when rush tried to say that three Dem senators control the entire Senate! HA!!!) that argument breaks down quickly. They cannot back it up. How can a party TOTALLY out of control be stopping them from doing ANYTHING?

Which leads to the natural conclusion: it must be the Constitution. OR members of their own party. Or both.

It cannot possibly be the Democrats. And I haven't seen anyone yet show me how it could be.

4. Dems should say: "We're not obstructing you: the Constitution is!"
Edited on Thu May-05-05 08:37 AM by BrainRants
This is a great way to turn the tide on the discussion that the Dems can use and Joe Redstate can understand.

edit: spelling

7. There you go. You said it better than I did!
Right. Democrats aren't obstructing, the Constitution is!

Anyone with three brain cells to rub together will gather from that that the repukes want anti-Constitutional things for this country (and they do).

Their whining about us is just a smokescreen, that much has always been obvious to me. I just couldn't figure out WHAT was standing in their way.

5. That and the American People
Take Social Security - they probably could get a bill through Congress if nobody had to worry about Reelection. President Bush doesn't have to worry, but most of the congress people do.

The American people ahve made it clear that they don't liek Bush's plan, and the more they hear about Bush's plan the more they don't like it. So it's also the American people that stand in their way (in this case, at least)

8. Thank goodness at least for THIS case.
Too bad the American people don't stand in their way in more cases.

Because I have no doubt now that they are out to radically change what we know America to be. And not in a good way, either.
