4. Not yet
this is just a copycat media matter. NBC's Revelations is the latest craze now, so every network wants to cash in on this niche media fad.

This is the first of many spinoffs on other networks with more pandering to the "born-again" segment. There may even be a NBC sequal (a sequal to the end of the world would be intresting to write).

This is nothing more than TV ratings and the ad money that comes along with it.

5. I agree
I don't think we're quite in a Theocracy even though the republicans want one. One thing to get now is that being a Christian now days is very main stream. All you have to do is say "I'm a Christian!" and you're with the "in" crowd even if you don't believe or if you don't really follow Christ's teachings and are just a hypocrite like many of our fellow republican politicians. Just like big hair in the 80's this too shall pass. It is very annoying but thankgoodness I have cable and my vcr and dvd's and the internet.

6. When we are truly required to register as "Christian", or whatever,
or be thrown in jail. Then we will be in Theocracy. As a nation we have come so far, it will require a great number of steps back before we sink that low. I think it means we need to stop the slide NOW. However, we should also remember that we stand on the shoulders of some amazing victories in the past, and be thankful for them.

8. I don't think so personally
I think we're a corporate state under a guise of theocracy. Big Religion is as much or more about money as Big Business after all, and people are more apologetic for Big Religion. Actually, I think we're a corporate state, under a guise of theocracy, under a guise of a representative democracy, under the guise of a free nation (whatever the fuck THAT means).

The more layers of deception, the easier it is to hide the underlying God In The Machine. Money. Period.

9. If there were only two safety nets: Armed Service of faith-based charities
Join the Army or come with your hands out for help from a faith-based charity that is allowed to proselytize and discriminate with impunity.

Now imagine that in order to receive faith-based help, you needed to renounce your own religion in favor of the Official Religion of America.

And to prove it, you had a mark on your forehead and a microchip in the back of your hand that served as a National ID, and this was required to conduct any kind of commerce.

Hmmm???

3. I think it depends on how it's reported.
I'll reserve judgement because I haven't heard of this till now, but with the wonderful reporting from our corporate media, and since everytime I turn on tv I feel like I'm in Sunday school, I have a sneaking suspicion... but I'll wait and see what it's all about!
