Canadian kicked out of Iraq, accused of spying
A Canadian journalist has been kicked out of Iraq after the country's secret service accused him of spying on behalf of Israel.
Scott Taylor, publisher of the military affairs magazine Esprit de Corps in Ottawa, was in Iraq working for the Sun chain of newspapers.
Taylor said he was confronted by two Iraqi secret service agents who asked him to leave the country after accusing him of spying for the Israeli intelligence agency, Mossad.
In an interview with CTV News on Thursday, Taylor said he considered himself fortunate to have survived his latest encounter with the Iraqi secret service.
"I've met them before, I've had courtesy calls in the past but always very friendly," he said. "This was very different and certainly very unnerving for me. At this particular moment, given the pre-war paranoia and fear going on inside Iraq, the secret service is very much on the verge of losing their grip. It was very lucky for me to have been allowed to leave."

"It was pretty damn scary," said Taylor.
He said his captors thought he was an Israeli spy, moving him through seven locations while the town faced attacks from U.S. forces. Somehow he convinced his captors that he is a Canadian journalist.
Taylor said he's still alive partly because his captors knew he was Canadian and were well aware Canada did not join the American-led invasion of Iraq.
Eventually, his captors took him to a spot on the highway, flagged down a
