the highlight for me was when bush CONDONED Torture again
Edited on Fri Apr-29-05 04:26 AM by mopaul
a reporter asked him about our practice of sending terror suspects to foreign lands to be tortured. he seemed to say that the practice is perfectly acceptable in fighting the war on terror.

he really didn't even defend it. just matter of factly explained that he'll do what he has to to 'pertek amurka'.

he smirked and laughed and leaned and leered all the way through his speech, and some of the questions clearly riled him. but overall my favorite part was the torture part. our president has a real fetish about torture.

---------from the speech--------

Q Mr. President, under the law, how would you justify the practice of renditioning, where U.S. agents who brought terror suspects abroad, taking them to a third country for interrogation? And would you stand for it if foreign agents did that to an American here?

THE PRESIDENT: That's a hypothetical, Mark. We operate within the law and we send people to countries where they say they're not going to torture the people.

But let me say something: the United States government has an obligation to protect the American people. It's in our country's interests to find those who would do harm to us and get them out of harm's way. And we will do so within the law, and we will do so in honoring our commitment not to torture people. And we expect the countries where we send somebody to, not to torture, as well. But you bet, when we find somebody who might do harm to the American people, we will detain them and ask others from their country of origin to detain them. It makes sense. The American people expect us to do that. We -- we still at war.

One of my -- I've said this before to you, I'm going to say it again, one of my concerns after September the 11th is the farther away we got from September the 11th, the more relaxed we would all become and assume that there wasn't an enemy out there ready to hit us. And I just can't let the American people -- I'm not going to let them down by assuming that the enemy is not going to hit us again. We're going to do everything we can to protect us. And we've got guidelines. We've got law. But you bet, Mark, we're going to find people before they harm us.

1. An important part of the great plan.

2. Luckily, I missed that part
It's almost a miracle I made it through more than a half hour of leering, sneering creep, that's a record for me. Same old, same old. In addition to condoning torture, this also caught my eye:

And I just can't let the American people...I'm not going to let them down..."

He was right the first time. He's not going to let the American people get in the way of his illegal imperial plans.

and I'm sickened by that thought too.

Unless the whole lot of them are arrested, tried, and convicted( any verdict but guilty would be a sham and a lie)...they got away with it.

5. Wait Mr Invisible...
You claim you are legitimately elected, and you say this?

"I'm not going to let them down by assuming that the enemy is not going to hit us again. We're going to do everything we can to protect us. And we've got guidelines. We've got law. But you bet, Mark, we're going to find people before they harm us. "

Aren't you the one making up terrorist alerts and big bad enemies out there all the time? Aren't you at the same time---Condoning torture of other countries, and laughing it off like this was some frat party?

You are truly one of the most babboon laden type puppets, I've ever seen nazi sympathizers come in contact with. I bet if the government said we could save billions of dollars by living on Venus, you'd sign the bill in a heartbeat.
