CNN Shocker - Solidad stands up to arch-Con Cliff May!
Edited on Wed Apr-27-05 08:52 AM by Atman
While I've managed to go 95% cable-news free since the Schiavo fiasco and Popeapalooza, my wife still turns on the teevee for morning noise, and usually flips around. But this morning I got to see a real shocker in the "Camber & May" segment, in which liberal Vic Camber "debates" neo-con Cliff May. Today, May railed on and on about the ethics problems of Tom DeLay, and tried to brush it all off as partisan sniping. He was pontificating about how "every congressman has family working for them." What happened next almost made me fall off my chair...Solidad interrupted May and said, "Come on Cliff, it isn't about family on the payroll...what about the travel paid for by lobbyists?" May stumbled, apparently thrown off balance by Solidad not sucking up to him and supporting his line of bullshit like she always does. He tried to appease her and move on with his rant, but she stopped him again, and pointed out other problems with DeLay. It was stunning! Usually these two get to pummel each other while the host lobs pre-planned softballs at them, but Solidad actually sounded as if she was off-script. She genuinely sounded as if she was calling bullshit on May.

Did my ears deceive? Did Solidad accidently pick up a newspaper or something? What happened, Soli? Conscience rear its ugly head?

2. Wasn't there some rumor that
Rove want to cut DeLay loose? Well seems like they got their orders.

3. Perhaps she feared the 'Daily Show' treatment her colleague got...
...on last night's show. Kira Philips was raked over by Jon Stewart last night for not questioning one of her interviewees for using bad source info.

If this is the case with Soledad, then HU-FUCKING-ZZAH for TDS!!!! Keep the heat on them!!!

7. She's cuter in a "girl next door" sort of way...but "better?"
She's about the most vacuous of the vacuous IMHO. She is just a pure feel-good puff-ball, installed to attract the working-mom audience. She's empty-headed and incurious.

She should be working directly for BushCo instead of doing this farm-team stuff at CNN.

6. I've seen her go off script before.
It's nice to see, but not nearly often enough.

8. I didn't realize Vic Camber had a segment.
If he is who I think it is, he is very good at debating.

9. Camber is excellent...one of the few true libs allowed on CNN
He takes no shit from anyone. He knows his stuff. Therefore, he is relegated to this 90-second freak show segment with Cliff May, but at least he is out there, speaking truth to the right-wing hate mongers like May.
