Anybody have any quotes? Yes, it's important that he joined the Hitler Youth, but I want to know if he's condemned it or apologized for that since the war ended.

1. I was born a Roman Catholic
This does not look pretty to me.
In fact, this guy freaks me out.
If you are looking for reasons to absolve
him, I fear they are not there.

2. Profusely
I think you all need to chill.

http://www.adl.org/PresRele/VaticanJewish_96/44698_96.htm

"The Anti-Defamation League (ADL) today welcomed the election of German Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger as the new Pope, Benedict XVI. Under his leadership in Germany and Rome, the Catholic Church made important strides in improving Catholic-Jewish relations and atoning for the sin of anti-Semitism.

Having lived through World War II, Cardinal Ratzinger has great sensitivity to Jewish history and the Holocaust. He has shown this sensitivity countless times, in meetings with Jewish leadership and in important statements condemning anti-Semitism and expressing profound sorrow for the Holocaust.

Though as a teenager he was a member of the Hitler Youth, all his life Cardinal Ratzinger has atoned for the fact."

All feel-good fluff, but NO hard details.
ADL does a lot of good work, but a lot of it seems to be verging into proselytizing propaganda (in behalf of what the far-right Zionists feel is best for the State of Israel). Case NOT proved.

3. From what I've heard
in a book he wrote he acknowledged it. He was 14 and it was mandatory. That's the least of my issues with him.

5. That's what I thought.
I don't care about hearsay or things written about him. I want to know what HE himself has said about it.

And it's an important issue because, even though he may have been coerced into being Hitler Youth, how he addresses the issue now speaks volumes about what kind of person he is. Remember, even though Senator Byrd was part of the KKK, he has apologized for it and done everything he can to make amends.
