Who Else Is Sick Of Politicians Referring To Themselves As Public Servants
These assholes are far from serving the public. They have two sets of interests, "personal interests" and "vested interests".

Personal interests are the real goal of the vast majority of politicians. These include getting and maintaining power, building personal fortunes and getting over the fact that they got beat up a lot as kids.

Vested interests are the interests of the rich individuals and corporations whose support makes the politicians attainment of his or her personal interests possible. Usually these are directly in conflict with the interests of the "public".

The public is at best an annoyance to both the politician and his or her wealthy supporters.

A politician saying he is a "Public Servant" is like a tapeworm claiming to be a diet aid!

Enough with these fucking intros where they laud your many years of "Public Service". Be honest and admit your many years of screwing the public to get and hold onto your wealth and power. Better yet increase your wealth and power you pigs!

1. hogs at the public trough
might be a more accurate description for many of them. A Republican precinct committeewoman in DeLay's district said, "In Texas, pigs get fat and hogs get butchered. DeLay has become a hog." Let's hope her sentiments are echoed throughout the GOP (source: NPR All Things Considered segment yesterday(

So lets talk about "informed representation".... what does that mean? Nothing.
We all know that politicians "dance with those that brung them".... (please excuse my Texas slang... but if Molly can publish with it I can damn sure post here with it *grin)

One of the most basic things is to provide our representatives with information. I know there are many email lists available for just that... but it takes something more personal. Like a visit.

Lets speak specifically about this post of mine today.... Never mind I am a bit miffed that after weeks of DUers bitchin' about gas prices I had to kick the thread myself before anyone bothered to respond....

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1737417

Why was I miffed ? Because the Chair of the House Resources Committee (A heavy oil district) called the Hydrogen provision in the current energy plan "Bullshit".... He then cited discredited myths about use of hydrogen and nobody here (after I posted) called him on it...

So my suggestion ? Dont rely on others to do for you what you can do yourself....I plan to start with the the basics of phone and email. Followed by taking a "vacation" in his district or DC for a 1-1. If he blows me off, well...I'll have to look at his funding sources... and after that... well...his personal morals (just kidding)... Bottom line, I have and can enlist resources as well.... I am also not the kind of guy you want "looking into" your "electronic past"... *KWIM ?

So, that is my action plan... my only bitch "today" about the "Hydrogen Statement" is what you saw me post... from this point forward, all posts on this subject will include some tangible aspect of my quest.... eg what I have done to make a change, progrerss, questions, education, etc... What you wont see are my participation in general "bashing" threads where no action plan is established.... Fair ?

Did I answer your question ?

32. OK Captain Critical, And How Does YOURS Look?
You really want to go out of your way to imply that I am helping nothing.

Is there some reason that you feel the need?

Criticize the efforts of others when you have some to show for yourself!

I've been working my ass off.

For you to come in and bitch about my results is pretty freaking lame!

When your website is up and better, let me know!

9. I'll never tire of that!
Because according the Constiutution that is exactly what they are. It's them not acting like public servants that burns me up. I guess they will continue on that way. Until they walk into one of their fancy restaurants to order filet mingnon and lobster and their servant tells them you will have hog jawls, mountain oysters, and like it! No I'm sorry you can't get what you want. The peopel at table 7 tip better. So I'm representing them right now and they have decided what you will dine on tonight.

25. By posting half of a fact?
I suppose, yes.

Example:

You: "They knew Japan was defeated because Leahy has this quote saying that we shouldn't have dropped the nuke, and other people were against the bomb too."

Me: "Yes, but he went on record saying that the nuke wouldn't work, and so to defeat Japan we should launch a long-term military blockade to starve them into defeat. Therefore Leahy thought they weren't defeated yet. The others in the Pacific you refer to, Nimitz and MacArthur, were both in favor of an invasion, thinking that Japan would not give in after a nuclear attack. Also, the Interim Committee said that Japan was not defeated and that the bomb must be dropped. Therefore your position is nonsense."

You: "That does not matter. Japan was defeated and we knew it." Post same quote I refuted two posts earlier.

You're arguing with a broken record. You just ignore facts I throw at you and keep posting the same misleading quotes.

26. it was ALL our military leaders, hello
i post a few sample quotes and link to a VERY detailed, uptodate, scholarly analysis of the issue so others can see and judge for themselves.

this ain't fox, we got a paper-trail, fortunately.

so let me give them to you again...

* In his memoirs Admiral William D. Leahy, the President's Chief of Staff--and the top official who presided over meetings of both the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the Combined U.S.-U.K. Chiefs of Staff--minced few words:

(T)he use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. The Japanese were already defeated and ready to surrender. . . .

(I)n being the first to use it, we . . . adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages. I was not taught to make war in that fashion, and wars cannot be won by destroying women and children. (THE DECISION, p. 3.)

...

* In his memoirs Eisenhower reported the following reaction when Secretary of War Stimson informed him the atomic bomb would (i.e. 1945 BEFORE 1946 even BEFORE we NUKED'em) be used:

During his recitation of the relevant facts, I had been conscious of a feeling of depression and so I voiced to him my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives. . . . (THE DECISION, p. 4.)

28. it's more than just a few quotes it's a whole study
but more of your spin , hostility and name calling, again, how original.

1. ah, the CIA... a font of truth.

2. Eisenhower was THE supreme allied commander.

3. the desk jockeys were not only in the same theater - i know this gives you pause for concern - but they were mainly tasked to make sure we would be ready to collect data from the upcoming TERROR experiment.

30. Do you have anything like a source for the last point there?
Because it's really the one that actually has meaning. So if you think Truman's military advisors weren't actually there to advise, I think burden of proof is on you.

Oh, and in relation to number 2: "In December 1943 it was announced that Eisenhower would be Supreme Allied Commander in Europe...Eisenhower was named Chief of Staff of the U.S. Army in November 1945, and in December 1950 was named Supreme Commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, and given operational command of NATO forces in Europe. Eisenhower retired from active service on May 31, 1952, upon entering politics."

(From the wikipedia article on Eisenhower)

I find it telling that you don't even know what theatre of operations Eisenhower was confined to.

29. If only we could LIMIT the PROFITS by professional POLITICIANS.
We really should demand STRICT laws that severely limit economic benefits being reaped by politicians. Those laws would circumvent the use and abuse of political office and the American people and people around the world that we are "in the know" of such horrific abuses, past and present.

ELECTED OFFICIALS SHOULD BE STRICTLY PROHIBITED FROM PROFITEERING FROM THEIR POSITIONS FOR, AT LEAST, TWENTY YEARS!!!!

That would really chaff some profiteeting, professional politicians' butts,...huh?
