they are not caving
They will 'investigate' the same way they 'investigated' 9/11 and the pre-war iraqi 'intelligence failures. The delay investigation is just another delay tactic :-)

9. Maybe Biden and the foreign relations committee members sparked some fire
in the asses of some Dems and they will fight like they should for what we all know is right.

What? Senator Clinton may not have earned that free 10th cup of coffee at John's JavaHouse? We need to investigate this first!

6. No such luck - only if the Dem's agree to the new rules which would
be used to clear DeLay.

8. Turn out the lights, the party's over!!!!!!
"Four of the five Republicans on the committee were ready to move ahead, said Rep. Doc Hastings, the panel's Republican chairman. The panel also has five Democratic members."

Or, as they say in Texas, "time to shoot the guns in the air and call in the dogs".

10. There is only so much they can cheat and make it look real
Maybe there are enough repubs up for reelection that they are starting to say "Hmmmm, one lame repub that's got us by the ba11s vs. xx number of congressional seats".

Ever hear the joke "What do you have when you have one little green ball in one hand and another little green ball in the other hand?" Answer: Kermit the Frog's full attention.

Maybe Mr. DeLay is turning green and developing a taste for flys ;)

13. Friday night's headline: "Probe concludes, panel said DeLay innocent"
"After a sweeping probe, the Ethics panel announced that while some activities of DeLay's might have appeared unusual in the public's eye, no improprieties were noted and the panel is concluding their investigation."

14. Then there's THIS!
Lobbyist Gave DeLay a Skybox for Donors

By SUZANNE GAMBOA
Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON (AP) -- House Majority Leader Tom DeLay treated his political donors to a bird's-eye view of a Three Tenors concert from an arena skybox leased by a lobbyist now under criminal investigation.

DeLay's political action committee did not reimburse lobbyist Jack Abramoff for the May 2000 use of the skybox, instead treating it as a type of donation that didn't have to be disclosed to election regulators at the time.

The skybox donation, valued at thousands of dollars, came three weeks before DeLay also accepted a trip to Europe - including golf with Abramoff at the world-famous St. Andrews course - for himself, his wife and aides that was underwritten by some of the lobbyist's clients.

Two months after the concert and trip, DeLay voted against gambling legislation opposed by some of Abramoff's Indian tribe clients.

16. Okay, you get to bat from second base . . .
But the ball won't go over the fence even from there on a bunt. Time for the Democrats to keep their eye on the ball and be sure to follow through, otherwise this little cockroach will scuttle away again.

18. The first line is precious...
"Retreating under pressure, Republicans on the House ethics committee"

It leads one to believe the repubs are under pressure from Dems and don't really want to investigate DeLay. DeLay apologists will use this to further demonize liberals rather than taking the high ground and admitting one of their own could possibly be behaving unethically.

It is nice to see some of them doing their jobs.
