regarding birth control, and bemoaned the "Catholic bashing".

My response. The Catholic church can preach whatever they choose. The problem is their unconscionable meddling into government policies. In Africa the church pressured governments to abandon their public education programs to educate citizens on the use of condoms to prevent the spread of AIDS. So they are condemning people who may not even be Catholic to DIE of AIDS by forcing their morality on all citizens. That is despicable beyond words.

Here's a story for you:

Two years ago, my wife was tapped on the shoulder to travel down to San Antonio and help out with a pilot for a possible documentary series on The Discovery Channel. We travelled down there and settled into our hotel room on Saturday night. She was due at the film shoot on Sunday afternoon.

At 3am Sunday morning, Ginny had to be rushed to the hospital because of septicemia. She almost died. There was no way she could make the shoot, so (with her permission) I took her notes, studied them as best as I could, and showed up to speak with the host of the documentary.

About ten months later, they aired the pilot on TDC. I was cut out entirely except for one little shot of me standing in the background. That really sucked. Turns out the editors wanted to run the story a different way that wasn't so dependent on interviews, so I - and my wife's notes - wound up on the cutting-room floor.

But it happens. And if you want to press on in the media, you have to expect this to happen to you once in a while. Just don't give up.
